Domaine De Lhostreiere

This is the second time we have stayed here. What a difference 5 years make. We booked a studio for our stay here this time. We shant stay here again. Upon arrival we entered the hotel and the man behind the computer spoke no English or if he did, he didn’t bother to speak it to us. So, a lady came out whose English was only better. We were told to follow her to the room. The room is not connected to the hotel by an internal means. It is an isolated room and if you are driving a car you must enter through another gate. The room, where to begin, the heater in the living room did not work. Their solution “to turn on all the heaters” and it will warm up the living room. That’s all fine but it sure makes the rest of the apartment insufferable. The refrigerator did not work but a maintenance man repaired that. It had two bedrooms, a large bathroom with no curtain (you had to squeegee the floor after each shower. The kitchen was outfitted with a small selection of cookware. I think we were the only people at the hotel during our stay because there was very little in the way of breakfast selection (see photos) We were not given any kind of discount for the lack of heat in the living room during our entire stay. When I broached the subject, I was met with surliness and apathy. The only positive is the location. This hotel is close to everything near Omaha Beach. The American Cemetery is a short 10-minute walk to the visitor center. Omaha beach is a 5-minute drive and numerous other museums are located close by.

We were gonna stay for 2 days 2 rooms but we decided to stay for just 1 day and 2 rooms. Hotel staff charged us for 2 rooms and 2 days. We tried to call teh hotel staff but they didnt want to give the money back through orbitz. I filed a dispute with my credit card company so hopefully its resolved. Staff is not exactly friendly as they seem to not care about service. The ATM charges super high fees. It charges a terrible exchange rate as well as a 30 euro fee to use the atm. Most taxis dont take credit card only cash. Breakfast was charged 10 euros a person for cereals and scrambled eggs. Only thing going for this place is the location, it's incredible. About a mile from the american cemtery and omaha beach and across the street from the overlord museum. Highly recommend to just rent a car and stay in Bayeux or some other nearby city. Dont stay here.

The best thing you can say is the location , close to the Omaha American cemetery . The heavily tattooed ‘ director’ was dismissive and abrupt . The food is poor quality and expensive . Obviously you are paying for the location ( as our brave soldiers did in 1944 ) . Drive out for better options
