Normandy

A old hotel with a certain charm.The room is clean but the tapestry needs to be changed urgently. The kitchen is really good with wines at abordable prices. Situated near the old city and a ten minutes walk to the beach. Friendly service

We had a two night stay in this hotel which is only a few minutes walk to the port of Fecamp. We were welcomed on arrival by the owner and as we were a little too early to check in we had a drink whilst we waited for our room to be ready. Check in was at 2.30pm. We had a motorbike and could have paid for secure parking but the free parking on the side of the hotel was fine for us. The hotel itself had a dated charm, was quirky, with a lovely restaurant with leads onto a glass covered patio. The room was simple but clean with a comfortable bed and a good sized bathroom. It was quiet and we had a good night sleep but our room was opposite a church so the bells started at 8.00am. We paid for breakfast which was a basic continental one. We ate in the Brasserie Maupassant one evening and enjoyed the experience.(see separate review) Overall we had a wonderful stay. Yes this place could do with a bit of makeover but it’s an historic building as it was once an old coaching inn, so it had cosy and inviting feel. We would stay here again.

We knew in advance that there was no elevator. OK we were warned but if you stay on the 3th floor and you have to climb a lot of stairs it's not so easy with bags. The owner and some of the crew at the hotel are friendly but there was one member of the crew a very young guy who could not laugh and wasn't friendly at all. All visitors agree that he needs to choose another job or must adapt his behavior. Perhaps it was family but event then he must be aware that his attitude is not done: never a smile, never a friendly word, never the word please or ... All rooms needs also have to be refrished. But no complaining about the food and the cleaning.
