Normandy Hotel

Very pleasant stay at Hôtel de Normandie. The establishment enjoys an excellent location in the city center, convenient for everything within walking distance while remaining quiet. The Norman charm of the hotel brings true authenticity, and the rooms are comfortable with quality bedding. Special mention for the welcome: professional, available, and warm team. The secure parking is also a real plus in Évreux. Very good value for money for a business trip as well as for a short stay. An address that I gladly recommend.

We have been staying here en route to, and from, Calais over the last few years (8+) without any problems. Last year and this year we have been disappointed with our experience, it must have changed management or owners. Twice now we have booked and requested a room in the main building overlooking the street, and been put into one of the small rooms at the rear of the hotel overlooking the courtyard. (Prior to that we our requests have always been accommodated.) This room was damp and musty, the carpet smelt of mould and it was all very dated and badly in need of a refurb. The door to the room showed marks of a previous burglary attempt (see photo) which would not be very confidence inspiring to ladies travelling on their own. Our reason for requesting a room in the main building is that they are the refurbished rooms, generally to a high standard and are very comfortable. On arrival we were told that they were all already occupied and not available. After eating in a nearby restaurant and returning to the hotel we could only see lights on in two of these bedrooms at the front. This was confirmed at breakfast when only two couples came down the stairs from there. While I am on the subject of breakfast, 12 Euros is definitely not justified here, probably 6 or 7 at most. Sadly we will not be staying there anytime soon, in favour of another establishment elsewhere. A great shame as we have given them our custom for quite a while now, but time to move on unfortunately.

A good hotel with really large and pleasant rooms! Very friendly welcome and recommendations regarding local restaurants. On the other hand, room 22, big thermostat problem in the shower, the water was hot but really hot which already has a real problem for an adult but I imagine a child who would have showered himself in this shower what a disaster. Management seemed to know about it and that's what bothers me the most...
