Grand Hotel Du Midi

Perfect location to enjoy Montpellier. I stayed in a fabulous corner room with a large balcony with chairs facing the most spectacular view of la Place de la Comedie. Very charming with a huge footed bathtub that probably could fit three people. You MUST get one of these rooms for the view Excellent staff. Special thanks to Gaëtan who remembered me eight months later when I stopped by again in August asking if he could hold a bag for me as I was just passing through Montpellier for the afternoon and my bags were heavy. It’s that kind of service that makes you return to a place again and again. Highly recommend!

We stayed for one night at the Grand Hôtel du Midi and found it to be an excellent base for exploring Montpellier. The location couldn’t be much better. The hotel is just steps from Place de la Comédie, putting restaurants, cafés, shops and the historic centre all within easy walking distance. Despite being so central, our room overlooked a quiet side street, so we enjoyed a peaceful night’s sleep. The building itself is full of character and history. With its close connection to the neighbouring Opéra Comédie, the décor reflects a theatrical theme throughout the hotel. The magnificent staircase is particularly impressive and gives the hotel a unique atmosphere that sets it apart from more modern chain hotels. The staff were welcoming and friendly throughout our stay, both at reception and during breakfast. Their warm, professional attitude made us feel genuinely welcome from the moment we arrived. Our room was comfortable, clean and well equipped. The décor was stylish and in keeping with the character of the building. We appreciated the kettle with tea and coffee provided—a thoughtful touch that isn’t always standard in French hotels. The room was comfortable and well equipped. During our stay, a portable fan was already provided in the room alongside the air conditioning, which kept it comfortable despite the summer heat. Our room also included an additional single bed in a separate alcove. We didn’t need the extra bed and instead used the space for our suitcases, but it’s a useful feature for families or groups of three without making the room feel cramped. The bathroom was modern, clean and functional, with good toiletries and plenty of hot water. Breakfast offered a good selection to start the day, and once again the staff were attentive and welcoming. Overall, the Grand Hôtel du Midi combines an unbeatable central location with the charm of a historic building, comfortable accommodation and genuinely friendly service. If you’re looking for a characterful hotel right in the heart of Montpellier, we’d happily recommend it.

For a 4 stars we were disappointed contrary to what you advertise on the Tripadvisor website there were no newspapers the mini bar was empty and there were 2 coffee capsule and a tea infusette two very bad pillows and no extra pillow... the very dark decor deserves to be reviewed. The young man at the reception was very friendly and given our disappointment he changed rooms we had the 112 we moved to the 108 definitely better the previous one had a balcony that overlooked flat roofs and really ugly. The whole is not up to a 4 star.... there is just the position that is interesting. The car park is located 400 m away and we paid 25 € for a night and early morning. We give you a discount ticket of 5 € to give to the guard but there was no guard in the parking lot only machines...
