Mercure Front de Mer

The hotel has a very good location both by the sea and very close to Intra Muros part of the city. The rooms have a bit of a musty feel and an unpleasant smell (this is based on more than one room experience), not sure why, may be caused why the wall yo wall carpeting combined with textile/fiber wall paper. The room has everything that is expected (no minibar/fridge, but this we knew), bathroom has a challenging decor with both sink that splashes water everywhere and a shower that splashes/leaks into the floor. Service is basically nice. There's nothing really seriously wrong with the hotel, but I feel it's below average Mercure standards and also overpriced as you get better options with the same price in Saint-Malo.

We were well received at the Mercure Front de mer hotel in Saint Malo. Despite rooms that were a bit small (we occupied a sea view suite) and aging, we enjoyed our stay. The big plus: the location! A breathtaking sea view, the Sillon beach at your feet, and the ramparts accessible in a few minutes on foot.

Very good location. A few pleasant minutes from the ramparts. Incredible sea view from the suite, you never get tired of it. A stone's throw from the beach. Very limited room service, it's a shame, with little choice still available during our stay (July). Extremely little storage in the room, nothing to hang things up either... so if you are loaded down you have a bit of the feeling of being at a campsite with your suitcases on the floor and your towels drying a bit everywhere you can hang them... fortunately the room was large. Helpful staff. Excellent breakfast. Very difficult to park near the hotel.
