La Closeraie Chambres Dhotes

I’m on a hiking trip. Hot, exhausted. Corinne is so welcoming, so efficient, it’s better than coming home. My room is large, nicely furnished, clean and comfortable. It has personality, it hasn’t been put together from a catalog. I loved the tour around her home, and the cave rooms! I haven’t eaten here, but her cave of wines is extensive, I’d bet her food will be delicious too.

“La Closeraie” is exactly what one dreams of when thinking of the Loire valley - la belle vie (the good life). The house welcomes you with roses and other flowers falling over the fence and along the wall and Corinne, the owner. Everything was made easy by her - from giving up her parking space so we would have the car right in front of the house - to making an omelette just the way we like it. The bedroom was lovely with a view on the south garden (where we spent some lovely times having tea and wine), a great shower and everything just so clean and fresh. The dining room, kitchen and cellar are partially dug out of the rocks which makes it an on hand experience of a troglodyte house so typical of the village and the area. We had an unforgettable stay and highly recommend it.

We loved having breakfast in the part of the house that was a troglodyte cave! Our host was amazing - she even made us breakfast very early on the day we left to catch the early train. Breakfasts here were the best we’d had in France - stewed fruits, confitures, and every type of pastry you can imagine. Plus we spent time drinking wine in the lovely garden. A great location in Vouvray too, very central.
