Hotel De France Nantes

This is an excellent hotel in the newer part of town. The staff were particularly friendly and helpful. One slight issue is that there is no fridge in the room (part of the hotel carbon reduction policy) but they are happy to store your supermarket water and wine in the bar.

We were on a motoring holiday and stayed here on the recommendation of friends who had stayed here previously. Everything was great, and we were there during the "May Heatwave" - the A/C was "baltic" the room & breakfast lovely and no issues whatsoever. Access to the pedestrian area easy, and the private parking space brilliant! Even if roadworks confused Google Maps. We loved this hotel and already recommended it to motorists we met later in I'll de R! Staff were exemplary too.

This hotel is fabulous. Location next to Place Graslin, La Cigale, the theater, Nantes's principal shopping street, and near Passage Pommeraye was fantastic. The room was large by French standards, immaculate, comfortable, quiet, and air conditioned ... which came in handy as the record-breaking heatwave descended on this part of the planet. Every staff member we encountered was friendly and helpful. We had commented that there was only one packet of caffeinated instant coffee in our room, which didn't work so well for a couple desiring a quick boost in the morning before venturing out for the real stuff. In a moment someone arrived at our room with a handful of the packets. Staff also volunteered tips on places to visit on a subsquent visit to coastal Brittany.
