Best Western De La Plage

The hotel, themed around Mr. Hulot who watches over it a few steps away, is truly right on the water. A quiet stay on a family beach. Very kind welcome, impeccable service. Spacious and comfortable room. Enough to make you want to come back.

Great stay. Top-notch family room, large area and exceptional view of the beach. Top-notch breakfast, very hearty with a view of the beach. Very welcoming staff. Sheltered from the crowds of Pornichet and La Baule. Close to the coastal path for walking.

We specially booked this hotel because it had featured in the Jacques Tati film; M. Hulot's Holiday. Our 3-night stay was okay but very overpriced for what our experience entailed: the room was small with not much room to put our stuff anywhere, and it felt even more so as the toilet was separate to the shower/sink room (rather inconvenient) and the 2 doors were very intrusive in the bedroom. The staff were friendly and the breakfasts in the dining room were okay, but these did feel limited by the third morning and they did run out of component parts. Also, the hotel has to share the building with an independent restaurant, with the hotel's portion feeling cramped (no communal room, which was a disappointment when our room was too small to spend much time in of an evening). Our main criticism is that, since there would likely be many guests who'd booked because of the M.Hulot connection, there was precious little mention of this in the hotel or any such paraphernalia, with the only related pictures we could see being on the walls of the restaurant, which is named after him. All in all, a premium priced hotel with only average service/facilities to offer and we wished we'd have spent just one night there and then gone on to other accommodation while in the area.
