Hotel Escale Oceania Orleans

Free parking, room ok - with central Orléans within 10 mins walk. Bathroom was super tight though - I'm not big , but trying to close the door was a struggle if you were inside because of the sink/ shower arrangement. Also no kettle or facilities in the room, not even a bottle of water, with the excuses of water in reception. Also staff were not particularly welcoming when arrived, or indeed if you came in, no Bonjour or even a smile, which was very different from other hotels we have stayed in during our trip in France. A final safety thing was that the fire doors to the stairs were always propped open all day even when we came back at night - despite it clearly saying they should be kept closed. Even if the cleaners leave them open in the day, no evidence anyone comes round afterwards to make sure they're closed again. Shows a lack of regard for client and hotel safety.

Nice spacious room. Good bed and breakfast was also fine. Price-to-ratio is very good. Close to the center. Excellent parking, too bad there was no charging station, but one was available nearby and also in one of the parking garages in the center. Very friendly staff.

We chose this establishment located on the quays of Orléans, about a 15 to 20-minute walk from the city center, for a one-night stopover on the way back from our vacation. Upon our arrival, the welcome was smiling and friendly. The hotel has a parking lot, which is very convenient, but it is unfortunately too small to accommodate the vehicles of all the guests. We still managed, somehow or other, to find a spot. The room was clean, quiet, and well soundproofed, despite its location on the ground floor and its window facing the parking lot. The bedding was also comfortable. The bathroom, equipped with a separate toilet, is however very cramped and lacks storage space. The space is so small that you almost have to contort yourself to get in! A sliding door, like the one for the toilet, would have easily solved this problem. The breakfast, on the other hand, seemed a bit below our expectations. The service there was quite average, which surprised us after the warm welcome upon our arrival. The scrambled eggs were cold and there was only a small amount left in the dish, which unfortunately was not replenished while we were there. An overall decent stopover for one night, thanks in particular to the cleanliness, the quiet, and the comfort of the bedding. Some improvements would be appreciated, however, particularly regarding parking, the bathroom layout, and the monitoring of the breakfast buffet.
