Hotel Residence d'Alix

What a pleasant surprise, one must definitely not rely on comments that are too old; one can always find something to complain about, but the service is overall more than decent. Perfect welcome.

The first thing to say about this hotel is location. It is a 12 minute drive away from Rocamadour centre , so if you’re not driving your stuck, parking is not easy near the town centre and taxis are non existent. On arrival the receptionist spoke very little English and could not describe what services were available, the room was clean enough but the walls and ceiling were paper thin, we could hear everything the occupants of the room were up to ( I won’t elaborate). They advertise a gourmet breakfast but was the worse we had on our trip to France. But the worst thing about this hotel was the attitude of the staff. We got back one evening ordered some drinks in the bar and went to sit in the breakfast/restaurant area to drink them, a member of staff told we couldn’t sit there so at to go sit in the bar where a load of young local kids were drinking. Then when I asked the to put the drinks on the room, I was I had to pay there and then. I had to go and get my card to pay and the guy had the affront to ask my why I wasn’t smiling. When I told him I wasn’t happy with the service, he said he didn’t care. Do your selves a favour, pay a bit more and get a hotel nearer to the centre.

The hotel has everything to be a first-class hotel: beautiful spacious room, excellent quiet location, lovely swimming pool. Everything is ruined by the restaurant: "in the evening a card where more than half are not present...." "I can show you the card, but we only have one drink." The highlight is breakfast, not supplemented, meager and exclusively Thé Menthe....then you ask for Thé Noir or a regular Earl Grey, it's not there, nor the next day....so you have to bring it yourself from the supermarket (€ 0.79 for 25 bags). After two days we left the hotel, no one at the reception, we were stared at by the staff of the breakfast and the reception who were sitting together smoking a cigarette on the terrace.....
