Best Hotel Reims La Pompelle

**Worst hotel of our European road trip** Unfortunately, this was by far the worst accommodation we stayed in during our European road trip. From the moment we arrived, we felt uncomfortable. There were people congregating and smoking around the entrance, laundry hanging around the property and the overall atmosphere was completely different from what we had expected when booking. We were travelling as a family with our children and my teenage daughter in particular felt very uncomfortable because of the amount of staring as we came and went. By the following morning, we were so uncomfortable with the atmosphere that even leaving the hotel at around 6am didn't feel particularly pleasant. The room itself did little to improve matters. One of the biggest concerns was the fold-out bed provided for our children. When someone sat on it, the mechanism actually began folding back up with them on it. Aside from being completely unsuitable as a proper sleeping arrangement, we considered this a genuine safety concern. There was also a strong smell of cigarette smoke, which added to the generally unpleasant experience. We stayed in a wide variety of accommodation during our trip through Europe, at different prices and standards, so our expectations were certainly not that every stop would be luxurious. We simply expected somewhere clean, safe and comfortable where our family could sleep for the night. Unfortunately, this was the one property on the entire trip where we genuinely could not wait to leave. I rarely give a hotel the lowest possible rating, but based on our experience I can't reasonably give this stay anything higher than 1/5.

Very reasonable prices. Super friendly staff. Original decor, full of charm. Dinner and breakfast were excellent. Highly recommended.

Very comfortable, quiet hotel where we slept really well. Congratulations to the chef on his excellent homemade cuisine. We also particularly liked their new decoration. I strongly recommend this property
