Le Manoir de Kerdrean

There are 4 of us, we order 3 glasses of champagne and another aperitif for the 4th person. The waiter serves us pepper butter to accompany our aperitifs. Yes, yes, pepper butter! Where one might expect homemade appetizers, something refined to accompany champagne, we are served pepper butter. I am told that they serve the same thing to everyone and that the chef tried this pepper butter to accompany coke and champagne. It's a deliberate choice, they tell me. Great. The dishes were decent, nothing more, for a gourmet restaurant. The service was very mediocre. The waiter cannot guide us on food/wine pairings, he had trouble opening the wine bottle, a real amateur. Really VERY disappointed.

We spent only one night at Maison Obono and our experience was very far from our expectations. Upon our arrival, we waited nearly 20 minutes before being greeted. The welcome was particularly cold: no smile, a rushed presentation of the establishment, and an escort that stopped... at the foot of the stairs. Our suite being located on the 2nd floor without an elevator, no one offered us help to carry up our two suitcases weighing nearly 30 kg. For a 4-star establishment, this is surprising. We occupied the Yves de Pontsal suite, under the roof. Upon our arrival, it was 33 °C in the room. By way of air conditioning: two fans, a thick duvet on the bed, and no minibar or refrigerator to keep a bottle of water cool. It is difficult to speak of comfort under these conditions. We then ordered a charcuterie board and two glasses of red wine. The glasses served were filled with sediment. After pointing it out, they were replaced for us... but this time the wine was warm. As for the board, it arrived about 15 minutes later, also warm. This experience definitely discouraged us from dining at the hotel restaurant, and we went to eat elsewhere. Unfortunately, the pool did not raise the standard: water at 31 °C, very high in chlorine, more comparable to soup than a refreshing pool. Furthermore, the view looks directly onto the rooms in the annexes, which are more reminiscent of a summer camp than a hotel of this category. We were ultimately happy to have booked a suite in the main building. Finally, at the time of departure, we again waited nearly 20 minutes before being able to pay and leave the establishment. The most frustrating thing is that the potential is definitely there. The building is magnificent, the garden is superb, and the setting is truly idyllic. Unfortunately, the quality of service is absolutely not at the level of the 4 stars claimed. In our eyes, this fourth star is far from deserved.

We spent three nights in this establishment during May 2026. The setting is pleasant, but the rooms are relatively basic and without any air conditioning. The breakfast and the restaurant are quite acceptable. However, we were particularly disappointed by the lack of professionalism of the staff. During the heatwave, it was unbearably hot in the suite located under the roof. When we requested to change rooms, the staff eventually offered us (after multiple requests) a family room where the temperature was slightly more acceptable for the next two nights. Nevertheless, the rate for the suite was fully charged to us for the entire stay, including the nights spent in the lower category room. Establishment to avoid during periods of extreme heat.
