Hotel du Theatre

A lovely authentic hotel in the middle of the city. It is an old building but totally fine for the price. Lovely room with good beds, a bath and coffee/tea and cold water in the room. You are in the center so yes some -traffic-noise. But with the windows closed (hot August day) no nuisance and heat to do. Friendly staff, good breakfast, walking distance to beautiful Metz. Good for 1 or 2 nights.

Lack of cleanliness, underground parking garage completely filthy, difficult to drive in, smells like urine, mold everywhere, room not clean, breakfast unhygienic, very loud at night.

For an establishment rated 3 stars, it is an absolute disgrace. We stayed 2 nights in this hotel as part of a group reservation (3 rooms) and the experience was catastrophic from start to finish. Hygiene and the rooms: The lack of maintenance is glaring. Insects are wandering in the hallway carpets and, in my room, the bathtub seals were covered in black mold. Moreover, the equality of amenities is not respected: my friends had a fridge and a hairdryer in their room, while mine was completely devoid of them. The amenities and the water: We had no hot water from Saturday evening until Sunday morning when we left. The management claimed it was a "city outage," which we strongly doubt: starting Friday, we already had to let the water run for 10 minutes for it to start warming up (hello ecology...). The breakfast, for its part, was decent but nothing exceptional. The free parking: A real black mark. It is in a state of total unsanitary conditions and insecurity: feces on the walls, unbearable smells of feces and urine, trash everywhere. The staff outright advised us not to go there at night and not to leave anything visible. For our safety and that of our vehicles, we had to pay for public parking outside. This hotel absolutely does not meet the standards of its category. Avoid it, do not be fooled by the 3 stars.
