The 2 things I value most in a place to stay, is sleep quality IE quietness and a comfortable bed. This hotel scores full marks for both. The room I was given was pretty much silent, all of the time. The bed is a 'sink into' bed, the perfect recipe to aid good sleep. The staff were very nice. I ordered breakfast to the room, which was good, the sausages and bacon were undercooked, but it seems like most places outside of the UK undercook them. I ordered a pasta dish for dinner and apple pie - the apple pie was great, but the pasta dish was too small and not as good as the creamy dish I'd just seen on youtube (to find out what it was). - It might be ok, if you just wanted a little snack though. It is a short walk (maybe 15 mins) to Grand Place, and the Arts museum (worth visiting). I was impressed by Lille, a great little city. This is a great hotel and the rooms are cleaned very thoroughly. I'd definitely stay again.

It already started well as I had problems making the reservation. I contacted the res dept. and reacting quickly they, without asking, made the reservation and sent me a payment link. A shout out to Cécilia and Camille for their outstanding service. It did not stop there. We arrived around 11:00 already at the property and were immediately checked in and given room room 902 on the highest floor with the park view. The pleasant porter accompanied us to the guestroom. Bravo! Very nice rooms equipped with all conveniences except soap/gel. No problem. When we left the room we encountered a HK person and she gallantly provided us with gel and slippers. Next experience was there sauna/steamroom area. Just a warning for those from a Northern European culture. No nudity in this area as an attendant suggested a towel. Nice little area but I suppose with the next renovation. Make this space bigger. The casino experience was also a very positive one. Lots of slots. Quite a few slightly older versions which I also love. I could put the drinks on the hotel tab. All very easy. The breakfast buffet was nice although not impressed by the quality of the bread and cold cuts. No egg station but one can order one's eggs anyway they want. Very pleasant staff overall and would like to mention the host/manager who welcomed us at the desk. I love turndown. The gentleman who did this very nice. Unfortunately do not know his name but would like to mention him. They even accomodated us for a 13:00 check-out. All FO staff including porters very helpful. The gentleman who checked us out asked me:" shall we do the c/o in French". I have only A2 level French so this was a nice suggestion. Eye for detail too. So we had had dropped of our luggage for safekeeping. This included a bag for the fridge. When we returned to pick all up and after a shift change. The lady right away said:" You also have an item in the fridge". Wow without mentioning. They were aware. Now that impresses me. An awesome stay. My first time in A Barriere hotel. I had already had become an Infiniment member. Paid €277 for a deluxe room incl breakfast for 2. Not cheap. but very much worth it. I will certainly return!

Literally just back from a 3 night stay which as before, was all that we have come to expect from this hotel in Lille. That is to say, excellent in so many ways. Such a warm welcome in reception and then in our room, a bottle of wine and a delicious cake. Really makes returning guests feel appreciated. The room has everything you need and is really quite spacious. What I must emphasise is that this is a very reasonably priced hotel for the services/accommodation provided. Grab a bargain seat on Eurostar and you can have a few days away for less than you’d think possible. See you soon, Hotel Barriere.
