We booked this hotel from the US as part of a family trip traveling with an 18 month old baby, in part because it had AC -- smart, given that Paris had a generational heatwave during our trip, right? Wrong -- we get an email 10 PM the night before check-in saying the AC is out and suggesting we call them to be rebooked and receive compensation. So we call and they don't pick up the phone, leaving us to scramble to find a suitable hotel at midnight. We do our best (we even deliberately book another IHG property, hoping it would make things easier), but the hotel we book is unsurprisingly far more expensive (in part because we booked it at midnight the night before check-in as opposed to months in advance, in part because the aforementioned once-in-a-generation heatwave meant demand was high). When we finally get through to voco a few days later they just offer a pittance of IHG points but tell us we have to swallow the difference in price because had we called them, they could've found us a hotel for less money. The objection that we tried to call them and they didn't answer, leaving us to muddle through on our own as best we could, was, apparently, unpersuasive. They specifically told me to go ahead and write them a bad review, so here it is. I understand that sometimes things break, but there was absolutely no recognition about how their own failure to communicate caused substantial problems and put us in an impossible situation. For all I know, the rooms are nice, but if something goes wrong -- even if it's entirely their fault -- you are on your own.

voco Paris Montparnasse is an incredible hotel. Perfect location in the beautiful Montparnasse neighborhood. Surrounded by restaurants, coffee shops, & bakeries. Train & bus stops within 15 meters of the front door. Beautiful quiet rooms& friendly helpful staff.

We have stayed in many hotels from one star to six in Paris over the years but this hotel was top notch. We arrived at the hotel from Montparnasse Gare station and it was only a couple of minutes walk. The booking in was straight forward and we were soon off to our room. The room was clean and tidy as was the bathroom and the bedding was nice too. The tv in the room had more channels than one could count, with four English channels amongst the number which was a bonus; most hotels just show BBC World Service. We didn't dine at the hotel as there numerous restaurants near by. We don't pass comment on sleep quality as you either have a good sleep or you don't - simple really. The hotel is ideal for those want to walk to the Eiffel Tower and the areas around Montparnasse - you can (we did) walk to the Left bank and get Metro back. If your going into Paris catch the Metro at Saint Placide (on the Rue Rennes) as going into the metro at Montparnasse Gare is a nightmare. An excellent hotel in a good location with excellent staff what more do you want. Bon journey
