This is the 2nd time we have stayed at this hotel, due to location for the tunnel and also its beautiful setting. However… on this occasion we felt let down by the restaurant experience we encountered. The restaurant itself is beautifully decorated and presented. The staff however appeared to be total novices and were stood in the middle of the restaurant, hovering around which was a little uncomfortable. We ordered drinks which arrived promptly, however once my glass of cremant was empty, it was removed from the table and I was not offered a refill or alternative. We called a young male waiter over and asked for a large St Omer & a glass of Malbec and he looked at us as if we were talking alien language and had to ask another waitress to serve us. When the meal arrived the experience went from bad to worse. We both ordered the salmon poke bowl for starter which was a small bowl filled with cold stodgy rice topped with salad and 3 strips of salmon. At €15 this was poor value for money. For main I had seafood linguine which was bland pasta sat on a puddle of tomato sauce with what appeared to be frozen seafood mix on top. It was tasteless. My partner ordered pulled pork burger. When this arrived there was not a burger in sight, just a brioche bun with what appeared to be microwaved pulled pork and excessive amounts of sauce & coleslaw whiich had soaked into the bread which was wet through and unable to pick up as it was like mush. My partner informed the waitress who removed the meal and returned within a couple of minutes with a replacement bun which had the pulled pork scraped onto it from the previous meal. When my partner tried this it was stone cold! We called the waitress again and said we would cancel the meal and pay for the starters and drinks. The bill came to €63 and we were left starving. It is such a shame that a restaurant in an establishment as beautiful as the chateau can serve up such substandard dishes/quality of service.
