HOLIDAY INN

Very good overlooking sea location and central with parking outside in street. Lively atmosphere when arrived late at night as a funfair on in the town. Reception were extremely helpful and friendly, spoke excellent English and accommodated our two mountain bikes in our room overnight as pre arranged via email that day. Very clean, crisp white towels and shower products by Dove all available and re stocked in our large bathroom. Room facilities had Tea/coffee and kettle facilities and hairdryer available in bathroom. Value was good at £150 for 4 of us with two adjoining rooms that connected with a door in between. We didn’t have breakfast included but used the Bakery 100 yards up the road on same side to left of reception on our way out. Very nice and only £7 for 3 pain au chocolates, 2 coffees and a ham Baguette. Overall a very pleasant stay.

This hotel should be torn down, it's way beyond being refurbished, truly terrible. How on earth do IHG feel they can put there brand on this? Can't believe an IHG executive would stay there! DO NOT STAY THERE!

Very disappointed... have stayed here before and liked it - the options to stay in the centre of Calais are not too big. So, we were looking forward to our stay (again) in Calais and had therefore booked 2 nights, before moving on to the England. The biggest disappointment was the room, it was small, dark and overlooked by the building attached to the hotel (not visible on the hotel web-site - be warned), same price as for all the nicer rooms we have had before, but in practice more like a cheap chain hotel, functional and small. Going straight to the staff after seeing the room to ask for a different room was, although still early afternoon, was not helpful, on the contrary. It was a frustrating stay and I was sincerely happy when we could pack and leave this unpleasant experience behind us. It really is time that Calais brushes up its hotel scene, but nevertheless, it won't be difficult to hit an experience as bad as this, so we might try another one.
