We travel to the alps from Manchester 5 times a year. The hotel is perfect for us. Large rooms. Kitchenette to make our coffee flask and fridge for our travel food. Clean. Comfy bed. Hot, powerful shower. Dog friendly. Huge TV that you can use a fire stick in and pull right in front of the bed. Always a warm, polite welcome by staff.

We stayed here for 1 night before returning to England. We last stayed here maybe 10 years ago when it was a Suite Novotel, and the rooms haven't changed that much which isn't to say that they are in any way shabby. Everything has stood the test of time pretty well. Room was very spacious and clean, with microwave, fridge, kettle and coffee machine in the room. Beds comfy. Good hot shower with decent water pressure. Good selection of food for breakfast. This is a very safe hotel as it's also used for the CRS (French mobile reserve police). The car park is full of police vehicles to the left (don't try to park there!) but there are plenty of spaces available in the rest of the car park. Location is walking distance to Cite Europe shopping centre - I would recommend Flunch for dining. Quality food with unlimited chips / potatoes / vegetables. Few tourists, mainly French customers.

Racist - the hotel is located just as you enter Calais and therefore a good location for a short transitional stay. The room was as expected and free parking to the rear of the property which was good. The staff there were very helpful in particular a male at the reception desk unfortunately I don't recall his name but he was multitasking between check in and serving. Racist Concerns, this hotel is heavily populated by police using it as a base to stay, the car park forecourt has many of there vechiles and they is a high presence which some would say could be reassuring. HOWEVER I experienced blatant racism as a black person on two seperate occasions at this hotel by the police. One one occasion I was at the lifts waiting and an officer decided to step directly infront of me merely touching the doors and on my toes to prove I wasnt present. When I said excuse me he disregarded me like I wasnt there and then proceeded to enter the lift which his colleague followed but did so reluctantly as though to indicate discomfort. Secondly, i proceeded to my car parked at the rear and a police van decided to nearly run me over. These experiences has caused great unease and infact I think I will take the matter further. I think to have people of authority staying in the hotel does not reflect he hotels standards but does highlight the level of racism from the French in power.
