Hotel Le Collonges

I stayed here for one night on a low-budget work trip. The building is pretty uninspiring but the woman on the desk was very nice and made me want to like the hotel. The room was a decent size but the fittings were very tired. The shower door didn’t close properly and I had to hold the shower head in order to shower. But it was clean, the bed comfortable and I slept like a log. Straight through my alarm. The food was OK but nothing to write home about So it does the minimum (clean, comfortable bed) for a low price but it does very little else.

This is a simple hotel - one of the few in this area - that claims nothing else. Parking in front, kind and helpful staff, clean rooms with all the basics; ok beds, shower and (well working) AC. There's a restaurant on board who also serves breakfast and a drink in the afternoon. Breakfast really good for the price and can in the summer be had in the garden/backyard/terrace. If you are visiting Paul Bocuse's restaurant this is the nearest hotel. Otherwise you must stay down in Lyon and take a cab up to Collonges. However, be aware that it is not walking distance between Bocuse and the hotel (around 2 km), so you'll need a taxi anyway. But it will be esentially cheaper than going from Lyon. Official rating is 2 stars and thats quite fair - in fact we experienced our stay as being at a 2 star plus hotel. And if you consider the price (under 100 EUR/night) it is very affordable.
