Mon Hotel Particulier

While we actually booked La Suite Bibliothèque, after an enquiry to the apartment management we were upgraded to a larger apartment on Petite Rue Tramassac, which is owned by the same group. Tucked away in the heart of Vieux Lyon, the apartment is on the 3rd floor of a restored 15th century building and accessed via an enclosed spiral staircase from a small courtyard just off the street. The location was everything we could have asked for, with plenty to do in the immediate vicinity and a metro station a 5 minute walk away. The apartment consists of a large bedroom / living area, with a small private bathroom and a compact dining area leading to a tiny, but incredibly well-equipped kitchen. A TV is also provided and the free wifi service was excellent throughout our stay. The main living area is dual aspect (though no views) and has a large, very comfortable double bed, a bed-settee and two comfortable armchairs. A huge amount of storage is available in for form of fitted wardrobes with other cupboards and wardrobe containing cleaning supplies, vacuum cleaner and iron / ironing board. The compact bathroom is shower only, with unlimited hot water and plenty of storage though the wash hand basin location was a bit cramped. The minute kitchen was superbly equipped with an oven & hob, kettle, coffee maker, toaster and microwave - and even boasted a dishwasher and washing machine. However, this did mean that preparation surfaces were very limited and the sink was awkward to use - not an issue for most holiday makers, but could be frustrating for longer term guests. While a few of the fixtures and fittings were suffering from wear and tear, and there were also a few blown bulbs, there was still plenty of light and the apartment was very clean and cosy with central heating and a variant of double glazing (two single glazed windows separated by a 6-inch air gap) meant that the apartment retained its heat. Finally, it's worth noting that the best way of contacting the apartments is by texting the number you're provided after you book.

Just got back from a week in Lyon for the Women's World Cup. As a relentless reader of reviews and Mon Hotel Particulier's website before I booked our stay, I knew that it was not a normal hotel. I knew the rooms/apartments were somehow in different locations, but I didn't really get it. But now that I've been there I'll tell you--these are apartment rentals. Not that there's anything wrong with that! But it isn't totally clear--whether from the name, or translation issues on the site--that this is NOT a hotel. The address on Place du Change is their office, not the location of the apartment. My family stayed in the Mandorla Loge, which was gorgeous and bigger than it seems in the pictures. My sister's family stayed in the Loge des Artistes, which seem from the website to be in the same building. But they're actually around the corner from each other, which was disappointing at first but not a big deal in the end. Both apartments did have washers, which was great but I wish had been advertised! We would've packed much lighter knowing we could do laundry. Sam was our host, and he is really lovely. So helpful and responsive. Location was great--could walk down the stairs and out to the street for food/snacks/drinks at any time, although we did constantly end up at the tourist traps that Sam tried to steer us away from. Wish the adults could've eaten at any one of the amazing-looking restaurants in the neighborhood, but the kids kept us on a diet of jambon et fromage baguettes. Would definitely recommend, just know what you're getting into!

Went for an apartment to benefit from privacy, character,charm and convenience. Mon Hotel Particulier had it all in abundance. We met the owner Boris in a beautiful square in the heart of Vieux Lyon. He took us just around the corner to a 16th century building It was beautiful and full of character It was typical of the buildings in Vieux Lyon. The apartment is on the 5th floor but there is a lift to right outside the apartment door. The apartment was more spacious than anticipated and had original oak beams but high enough to not bang your head. The floors are refurbished wooden and looked lovely. The the fixtures and fittings are of good quality and the bed was super firm and very comfy. The kitchen area is on the small side but more than ample and again, good quality. Boris the owner was very helpful and pleasant man I must say I had an accident with the fan in the bedroom and broke it. I was most embarrassed and worried Boris was lovely about it and didn’t seem bothered saying “one of those things” I did pay but he hadn’t asked or kicked up a fuss That’s not to say he would put up with this mind as it’s a lovely place that needs looking after All in all I would highly recommend this apartment great location and value for money
