Best Western Grand Hotel De L'Univers

Having booked over 3 months ago, we turn up to find the place is closed. No communication from them whatsoever. It looks old and we found a better place at Moxy around the corner. Avoid at all costs!!!

To escape: we had booked one night, a week in advance. It was only the same morning that our reservation was cancelled, without any explanation. At the hotel where we fell back, we learned that we were not the only ones in this case, and we have been for several days.... When we walked through the city centre and passed the façade and balconies, we can wonder if the building is not struck with a peril order or, if not, if it should be!!

Booked a double room on 29th January 2026, received a confirmation via the hotel and booking.com for arrival 19th March for 3 nights, on the 17th March at 5.25pm received a cancellation notice that my paid for in full reservation had been cancelled. Tried on a number of occasions to contact the hotel directly via their own website, still no answer, it’s taken me several hours of being on the phone and trawling for email addresses and office addresses to sort out with booking.com, and have now received an answer to invoice them with the hotel bill after our stay which I am happy to do, however the refund of my original booking may take 7-12 days to appear back in my account, this is not good enough, when speaking to an agent last night I was told that there was no supervisor or manager on duty to take the matter forward, I’ve asked on 3 occasions for someone to call me, but the bots that seem to run their communications department don’t seem to understand. My advise is do not book hotels especially this one through booking.com as they have no interest in making your booking a good experience at the moment hotel gets no stars and booking.com are at 2 but it may change if they don’t act correctly.
