Coconut Residence

We checked in late Friday night and left on the Saturday due to many terrible reasons. 1) a very rude workman swore at me when I asked where the bar was 2) barmen didn’t understand when we ordered drinks. Poor selection of drinks. No ice or lemon for gin. Warm beer 3) the curry don’t taste of coconut at all. The chips were anaemic and cold. 4) curtains collapsed onto my husband in the room and wouldn’t close. 5) one small towel each and no bath mat. Shower water all over the floor which was a terrible slip hazard. 6) overgrown garden 7) the pool was filthy and cloudy and couldn’t be used 8) waited 40 minutes for the manager to be told it’s not her decision and still they’ve not answered us about return of our money!!

This hotel is a little gem tucked away in senegambia. Nice and peaceful hotel just a short walk away from the busy senegambia strip with all the bars and restaurants. A two minute walk across the road to the nearest beach. Fantastic location. Rooms very spacious and cleaned daily by the housekeeping staff and a special thank you to Muhammad. All the staff made me feel welcome and did nothing but put themselves out to please . Big thank you to the management reception housekeeping gardeners kitchen staff and security staff they all do an amazing job. Cant wait to return.

What an amazing find this hotel turned out to be, set in beautiful tropical gardens and only a short stroll away from the beach. This hotel has comfort and joy in the bucket loads, it's one of the only hotels I found in the Gambia that will provide a multitude of different choices for breakfast from a full English to smashed avocado and loads of toast, mushrooms and cheese omelets, and the food in the restaurant is superb. As for the accommodation we'll it was defo 5 * everything you could want and smart tv,s so if you feel a little homesick you can sit back and watch the reruns on TV, I watched James Martin's sat before going out to get me in the mood for food. The pools are not massive but well looked after and not over crowded. The staff were above the normal and I stayed in quite a few of the 4/5 star hotels. You are well looked after here and the management team will make sure you are looked after to the highest level, I stayed in most hotels over the past 20 years of coming to Gambia and the coconut residence is on my top list. The beds are comfortable too and if you have problems with mobility this place is perfect, their are loads of ground floor terrace villas and hardly a step in sight around the grounds. I will definitely be back soon
