City Hotel Fellbach

My husband and I spent one night at this hotel. The following review reflects our personal experience and perception. The room for that night, including breakfast for two, cost 178 euros. Reservation and check-in: At the time of reservation we were promised a confirmation by email with reservation number, but this did not arrive. Fortunately, we arrived early and were able to check in before our evening event. The telephone information that the staff is only present until 10 pm raises the question of how a smooth check-in after this time would have been possible without reservation confirmation. This could be a problem for later arrivals. Rooms and facilities: Our desire for a room facing north or east (away from the street and heat) was not taken into account; we were given a room on the south side. Upon arrival, the window was open and the roller blind was only half closed, which led to extremely unpleasant heat in the room. The beds we also found to be rather small and uncomfortable, which additionally impaired sleeping comfort. The bathroom we found extremely small and cramped, which may seem borderline even for people without claustrophobia. Due to the direct location to the street, the Noise level was very high at night, which made a restful sleep impossible with the window open due to the noise and with the window closed due to the heat. Breakfast experience: Also the breakfast had several shortcomings in our view. The number of tables available was insufficient, so a group had to have breakfast in the entrance area. When the tables were cleared, cleaning was only superficial; crumbs were removed in spots, and the rest of the table was not wiped off. A fork already on the table has not been replaced, which is hygienic. My husband sat with his back to the room and was ignored by the staff. After about 10 minutes, coffee had still not been served. We eventually received a thermos from a neighbouring table, which we addressed directly, as either there were not enough coffee pots or the staff were unwilling to actively ask. The fruit salad on offer was still frozen and made us feel as if it came from a pre-pack. Conclusion: In our view, the Price quality ratio was in no way given. In view of the shortcomings mentioned, especially in the Service, the room facilities and the breakfast, we felt the price paid of 178 euros was not justified.

After checking in and paying (103.09 euros including breakfast) at the entrance door at around 9:15 p.m. after a long day, we went to our room (17) and were looking forward to our bed. To our surprise, the room was not cleaned, the beds were not made, there was excrement in the toilet, etc. (pictures attached). Unfortunately, there is no staff on site at this hotel that we could turn to. So we called the hotel hotline. We told the lady what we had found and she apologized and said that someone would come immediately to clean the room..?? So we should wait at 9:30 p.m. until the room is cleaned, which will take some time? And to be honest, given this view and the hygienic conditions, any desire to stay in this hotel disappeared. When we refused to stay in the room, which was then cleaned, we were offered a room in a higher category across the street, which we declined and demanded our money back because we decided to stay in another good hotel that we knew of because we didn't feel like having any more adventures and just wanted to sleep. This was rejected by the "management". Customer friendliness and goodwill are different, this is a rip-off, keeping money for no service. But this "hotel" doesn't seem to care, one bad review more or less doesn't seem to bother anyone here. If you love such surprises and accept these conditions, then this place can be recommended, if you want service and cleanliness for the same money, you're better off in any other hotel.

Stayed here for two nights as a solo traveller, and the room was perfect for me - a comfortable single bed, very clean with a brand new bathroom, kettle and complementary sweets, water, tea, ear plugs, sewing kit. Walking distance of all trams/trains/buses. Friendly smiling staff. Breakfast of smoked salmon and scrambled egg, great coffee - how could you complain?
