Hotel Krone Igelsberg

The German Black Forest is a special rugged area, mixed with unbelievable views, valleys and nature phenomena. You come here for a hike, for a drive, for an excursion to the many amazing sites. Hotel Crown Igelsberg is just on the East Side, very close to the breathtaking Baiersbronn. It's a little over one hour from Karlsruhe, Strasbourg, and even Zurich and Stuttgart are within a 2 hour range. That said, you can do a simple hike straight out of the hotel. This hotel is not like anything else I've seen. The attention to detail in every corridor — never mind the rooms and the restaurant — the whole place oozes a hospitality I haven't found anywhere else. When you meet the owners you know where this comes from. They are proud and love presenting a special stay in their house. It feels like visiting friends. The food is fantastic, from the quality breakfast to the German dinners with a lot of ingredients straight from the forest or farms and stores in the neighbourhoods. The place has been renovated not long ago and you can feel and see the quality of everything without ever feeling it's too much on the nose. This touch is from Anja Hausdorf herself. Great care has been devoted to also make guests with disabilities feel welcome, from an easy parking place, a wheelchair accessible entrance and elevator, to specially adapted showers. Even the swimming pool is fully wheelchair accessible. Germany has a lot of good hotels, but none will ever reach the feel of Crown Igelsberg. It's not just the crown of Igelsberg — this is the top of the Schwarzwald.
