The hotel does not have air condition, breakfast is available at a price. Parking is free but limited. We parked on the street with no problems. The room was provided with a fan. Had to leave the window open with lots of noise from the road between the hotel and the river. The WIFI was not that good. The best part of the room was that it had a balcony overlooking the Neckar River. The location is very close to the old town where you can drive a short distance or take a long walk along the river then walk over the bridge and you are there , that is why I gave it a 3 star. No chairs were provided for the balcony. I had to drag the 2 chairs from the inside to sit outside and used a bottom drawer for a table. The hotel needs general maintenance work. Example is to remove the duct tape holding up the air vent in bathroom. The refrigerator was frozen over. The room cleaning was not done. The bug on the floor remained during the stay - no vacuum was ever done. However there was a little piece of chocolate placed on each pillow. The staff was friendly with the exception of the elderly person who seemed to be the owner. This place is another example of a hotel that was probably bought and left as is with the only interest in making the most profit with the least amount of upkeep being done. With its location, it could be a much better place to stay.

Lovely location on the banks of the river and a warm welcome awaits you at Hotel Ambiente. Great value large room with lovely linens - and a shirt bus ride into the centre of Heidelberg (but get off early to walk over the ancient bridge to the stunning old town)! The friendly staff went above and beyond the call of duty to return securely items foolishly left behind! We look forward to our next stay - and supper in the Vetter Bier Kellar!

My wife and I stayed at this hotel (which is in a small village about 4 miles from the centre of Heidelberg) as our daughter was living in the village. Buses are frequent into Heidelberg (about every 15 minutes and take about 15 minutes). Hotel room was clean and comfortable and staff keen to help (we turned up early - 12:00 - and our room was ready for us) and as requested had a great view of the River Neckar and the hills behind. While others had mentioned that the traffic in these rooms caused some interruption to sleep, I slept extremely well. Access to the car park seemed tight for the large hire car we had, so we selected to park in the street outside and this was not a problem. Would definitely return
