Leonardo Hotel Heidelberg City Center

Overall, I enjoyed my stay and the hotel has a lot of potential. The receptionist was very friendly and welcoming, which made for a great first impression. I stayed on the 9th floor and the view was beautiful. The beds were comfortable, and the furniture in the room was in good condition. However, cleanliness and maintenance need improvement. The carpets throughout the hotel had a lot of visible stains, which made the hotel feel older than it probably is. The towels also had stains on them, which was disappointing. In addition, the bathroom could benefit from a renovation, as it felt quite dated. Despite these issues, I had a pleasant stay. If the hotel improves the cleanliness of the carpets and towels and updates some of the older areas, it could easily provide a much better overall experience.

Great location just a short walk to the main shopping/dining areas, as well as the castle. Parking was convenient, but quite tight.

Misleading booking arrangement: there are two Leonardo Hotels in Heidelberg. one is located near the old town, within walking distance. The other is located about 5 kms away, more than an hours walk each way plus no shuttle bus service. Then they say they cannot refund unused portion of stay because of booking service used . Worst of all is that staff in both venues seem to be aware that this booking mess happens very often and are not at all surprised when you tell them that you thought you were booking the city hotel and somehow ended up in the outskirts of town. Very unprofessional and misleading of hotel management. The hotel is also very old fashioned, offers little in the way of toiletries, towels are thin. The toilets off the foyer stank of sewage. Definitely not a 4 star rating. Only thing positive to say is that the bed was comfortable and the rooms are a nice size. I’m sure there are other nicer hotels to stay in.
