Hotel Stadt Freiburg

I felt very comfortable at the Hotel Freiburg. Only the heavy doors to the hallways were somewhat problematic for me as a disabled guest.

I had an incident: I left a pair of jeans behind in the room, I think it was room 726, last September 11th. A colleague of our guide asked the next day and they told her that they had not found any pants. I am sure that I left them behind on an armchair in the room. It was a special gift and I would like to recover it.

Nighttime reception not exactly very friendly. Apple Maps sends you into the backyards at the rear of the hotel, where there is a university hospital parking garage and parking spaces. You cannot get to the hotel from there. A night porter who was somewhat difficult to understand on the phone (slight language barrier) left me hanging and could not help me arrive at 2:30 at night. I drove around the block a few times until I found the driveway. A note that some GPS units navigate to the wrong entrance at Breisgauer Str 84 and 86 would be helpful. It would work to provide the address of the house next door. Finally arrived, the reception was empty; it took a while until someone came. Now the porter was very monosyllabic. Not a friendly word. After all that searching, a nice word would have been appropriate in the middle of the night. At that price, I would have expected a more modern shower and furnishings. Everything was very standard, after all. The mixer tap in the shower is outdated. Even slim people accidentally bump the mixer because the cabin is very cramped. There are better solutions available now. At night, cigarette smoke/smell drifted in through the open window almost constantly. An open window is better than AC when the traffic outside dies down. Otherwise, it is much too loud facing the front in the evening and during the day. In any case, could there perhaps be an area nearby where people smoke? A plus for housekeeping: The room was impeccably clean.
