We're a couple from Heidelberg. On recommendation we were eating today at the Golden Falcon. I ordered the stuffed veal breast recommended outside on the blackboard. My husband the onion roast. Visually, both looked good. Unfortunately, neither tasted good. The meat of the veal breast was just fat, the crust bland and the stuffing really not edible. The onion roast consisted of two pieces? the onions were a finished product from the bag. The sauces at both dinners were thick adulterated ready-made sauces with no taste, just as the vegetables and spaetzle were cooked as soft as a porridge. At the request of the service staff I said all this and I wanted to let my food go back as it doesn't taste good. That was not accepted and we had to pay the price. It's too bad. No palate and no good Service, no accommodation.

Great location on the square, close and walkable to all sights and around the corner from tram to castle. Very good restaurant on site, excellent schnitzel. Comfy beds, too. Most importantly, friendly, welcoming and accommodating staff (thanks Conni!) Have stayed in several hotels over the years in Heidelberg…from the big chain ones to locally owned. Will be staying here from now on.
