I was in the region for business and stayed at this hotel. My stay was very pleasant overall. I particularly noticed the exceptionally friendly and accommodating staff. I was warmly welcomed at all times and competently supported with questions or concerns.
My room was very clean, well-maintained, and comfortably furnished. The tranquility in the hotel also contributed to a relaxing stay.
The breakfast was also excellent. The selection was diverse, the products fresh, and of good quality. This allowed me to start each day well-nourished.
Overall, I felt very comfortable during my stay and can recommend the hotel unreservedly, especially for business travelers. I would gladly return on another occasion.

A bit of an aging establishment. If you want to fall into bed after the Bergkirchweih, that's fine. It seems many have done that; although all the carpets have a dot pattern, you can see a lot in the hallway and a few splashes in the room. The laundry and towels were clean, some towels were so new that they didn't dry properly yet, but that's okay. No air conditioning; the sun shines on the front windows, there is a kind of fan, which might be difficult for Americans. Mattresses are subpar foam, and the pillows are also somewhat odd. When you pull out a lamp plug to have an extra outlet for charging, it sticks. Breakfast, on the other hand, was quite acceptable in terms of offerings, and the staff was nice. On day 2, the elevator broke down; there is only one, and the colleagues on the 6th floor were not very happy. The colleagues on the 6th floor were not very happy. The bar exists and is also served, but it is rather subpar in the neon light of the reception. I am often on business in Erlangen; we were here because it apparently was a full weekend, but I would not want to stay here again; let the younger colleagues handle that alone.

My expectations of this hotel are deliberately manageable – and this is expressly not meant to be negative. It is not a luxury hostel, but a house that has stood for reliable basics for many years: clean room, working drains, underground parking for the car and decent service.
Unfortunately, this impression has now deteriorated significantly, especially since the switch to Best Western.
The journey was problematic. All parking spaces directly at the hotel were closed and apparently reserved for buses. The short-term parking space provided as a “check-in parking lot” was also reserved for a bus and therefore not usable. There was thus effectively no way to stop briefly to check in or unload luggage.
Check-in was also bumpy. At around 5:00 p.m., the reception was initially unoccupied, the bell concealed behind several paper displays on the counter. When someone finally appeared, there was no brief apology or greeting.
To be fair: I booked this time through a very cheap third party and did not expect any special treatment. However, cleanliness is a minimum standard regardless of price. In the room there were still food residues (chips) on the carpet on arrival, which suggests an inadequate cleaning.
For the first time I also received a room in the basement (“basement”). Formally correct – but as a result unusual and symbolic of this stay.
Pros: The night itself was quiet, the bed tidy, I slept well. At check-out, however, there was no inquiry as to whether everything was OK.
What is missing is the personal: In the past, people felt welcome here as a returning guest, partly to the point of personal acquaintance with the hotel management. This access has been lost.
The switch to Best Western did not bring any noticeable added value to the house in my view: The rooms look unchanged, the prices have risen – but service and attention have waned.
