EXCELSIOR

€180 per night without breakfast and no air conditioning. When booking it seemed as if there was cooling present and in the room there is even a control button for this. However, according to the staff, this button does nothing at all. We then asked for a room with air conditioning and were told that this cost €40 extra. After we agreed, another employee came to tell us that it would suddenly cost €65. In addition, a lot of noise from the subway and very uncomfortable pillows. For this price we expected much more comfort and service.

Very well located, practically next to the Munich central station, with direct entrance to the S-Bahn on the same street and just a 5-minute walk from Karlsplatz, which leads to the Altstadt. Our room, although it seemed small to us (everything very tight), met the requirements for a pleasant stay. The buffet seemed scarce to our taste, with little variety of cold cuts and fruit, with no gluten-free products (except upon request to the staff), but it is well compensated by the hot dish menu.

I had a single on the 3rd floor. The room had plenty of storage and a mini-fridge with all items being 2 euros. There was no safe or coffee machine. The windows open a bit to let air in. The shower had good pressure. One watch out is the shower was in a bathtub. The step in/out was pretty high. The room was very clean and no noise issues. I did not purchase breakfast. The front desk personnel were friendly. The reason I took away a star is the wifi. It was terrible. I couldn't even access Trip Advisor. Texting required lots of patience. Pictures went through-eventually-sometimes.
