Hotel & Hostel Hallbergerhof

Holiday feeling was totally ruined when arrived for this hotel/hostel. Rude staff, we did not feel welcome to Munchen. Room was ok. We booked also same hotel on our way back, and wanted to cancel this before 48 hour without cost, cause some delay for flights etc. could not. Normally there is permission to cancel at least day before at 18.00 without cost.

The owners are untrustworthy. We booked 4 twin rooms for the first & final nights of our touring holiday. Unknown to us the full payment for the first night was taken from my credit card on the day before we arrived, but whilst we were still unpacking the rather rude Receptionist demanded that we all paid before she closed-up for the evening, so we duly paid (again). There was a similar scenario for our final night however this time I became aware that the final night’s payment had already been charged to my credit card so I requested a full refund, which I received, & we then paid for all 4 rooms with cash. We were still unaware that we had paid twice for the first night. A number of weeks later, when I received my credit card statement, I discovered the dual payment for the first night & I subsequently emailed the hotel requesting a refund, the owners replied apologising for their error & they transferred the refund. However, due to the difference in exchange rates between taking & refunding the payment, I am now out of pocket & despite numerous emails to the hotel they have refused to refund the difference. They made the error by charging us twice; they demanded that we paid, even though they had already taken full payment, so It is very clearly their error & so I should not be out of pocket. If I hadn’t requested the refund I would be hundreds of pounds out of pocket as clearly they weren’t honest enough to own up to their mistake – which MUST have been patently obvious to them. DO NOT USE THIS HOTEL, THE OWNERS ARE UNTRUSTWORTHY; they are also very rude & clearly should not be working in a customer-facing industry.

The hotel was close to the airport, handy for the park and ride train into Munich and overall an ok stay. The free parking outside was great as we had a hire car. There is a Aldi type shop about 400m down the street which had a bakery and fresh coffee in the morning. We didn’t pay for breakfast at the hotel so I can not comment but the shop and restaurants around the local area are good especially El Greco for Greek food. Overall good stay for what we needed. We stayed 3 nights and although the room was small it was fine and a good price for our stay.
