Deutsches Theater Downtown Munich

This hotel is very basic, no frills but is in a good location and a good base for exploring the city. The room was clean, linen fresh and the beds comfortable. If you are looking for an indulgent escape away this hotel is not for you, however for us it was a place to rest after long days exploring the amazing city of Munich. The breakfast room was good, and offered us free good quality coffee to go. Would stay again, thank you.

Under “ageing,” I define something else. It's run-down, in need of refurbishment, broken, unkempt, provisionally furnished, simply unsightly. Certainly it was an eye-catcher in the weddings, but these times have long been a thing of the past. For one night it may still be ok but longer definitely not at all.

Within walking distance to main train station. Stayed for 1 night in the Camil room at the 5th floor. The small lift goes to only 4th floor, and had to carry our luggages up the steps. Water heater didn’t work and the reception said maybe due to road works (??). We had to shower with cold water. TV channels didn’t work as well, but fortunately there was YouTube on the tv. Hotel is situation by the main road and was very noisy at night with people shouting and ambulance noises. A fan was provided. Quite a few homeless people sleeping by the streets. There is a lidl grocery store nearby but gets quite crowded when locals go there to cash out their recycling bottle collections. When we checked in, the receptionist said there is free flow of coffee and tea and we can help ourselves to the coffee machine anytime. When we checked out the next day, we went to help ourselves with a cup of coffee and an elderly man came shouting at us that we can only get coffee in the morning, and can’t we read the sign on the wall? To be honest we didn’t even see any signs. To be fair, he said we can have our drink since we already made them. It is kind of weird that we saw 4-5 different receptionists during our stay, manning the counter alone each time. The attached restaurant looks like it’s not running at all. Quite an old hotel.
