Hotel Laimer Hof Nymphenburg Palace Munich

I just spent a night at Hotel Laimer Hof. It was admittedly a very hot day with the temperature in Munich reaching 96 degrees F. The room was the hottest that I have ever experienced in a hotel (no AC). One of the windows was nailed shut, and only half of the other window was designed to open. After inspecting the room, I immediately indicated that I would leave the following morning due to the fact that it was unbearably hot. I did check out, but they charged me for the full reservation of 3 days! Do I have to pay for the unbearably hot room (couldn't sleep) and the 50 steps of stairs that I had to trudge my bags up (no elevator) for the two days that I did not stay? You bet, the staff considered it was my fault to make the reservation in the first place. I asked to talk with the owner and they stated that the owner would be in the next day as it was a weekend. I feel taken advantaged of, as the best part of the hotel is the picture of the outside. Everything else is tired looking and old (i don't mind old), but even the couch in my room was old and had been covered with an inexpensive dirty coverlet to hide the real worn-out upholstery. That isn't quaint, it is just an eyesore. Frankly, I can't understand how this hotel has received such high ratings. My wife wants to point out that the carpet had soiled spots that were not inviting to anyone to walk on with bare feet. Now I am happily in another hotel that has an elevator and AC and takes care to keep things clean. My advice, look somewhere else for lodging.

I am very happy to have choosen this hotel because it is friendly the room and bed are nice a tiny old fashion but super clean! It has Character and breakfast is outstanding. Highly recommendable.

Unfortunately, this hotel has completely lost its former charm. Instead, it is more like a simple motel or even an hourly hotel. The reception was bumpy and anything but appreciative – no friendly small talk, no explanations, nothing that would have conveyed a sense of hospitality. You feel uncomfortable from the start. This impression runs throughout the house. On the way to the room it soon becomes clear that nothing has been modernized here for a long time. The decor is worn out, the rooms shabby. Holed curtains, broken light bulbs, dust in every corner – and the bathroom is filled with mold and sticky dirt. It lacks any attention to detail, as if it doesn’t matter how guests feel here. This is also reflected in the behaviour of the staff. One gets the impression that the operators have no sense of the hotel industry and only rest on past successes. The former caretakers, who may have once provided quality and a pleasant stay, seem to be gone – and you can see that on every corner. A place I definitely can't recommend. Here you don't feel welcome, but merely cleared. What a shame!
