I really enjoyed my stay at this hotel. Everything was extremely clean, the public areas are tastefully and invitingly designed, and the lounge has a wonderfully relaxed atmosphere with its pleasant modern music. I also really enjoyed using the water and wellness area. My room was spacious, well-maintained, and partially modernized (bathroom, bed, side furniture). A special highlight for me was the sports facilities. The air-conditioned "Tower of Power" offers the latest equipment from the Topgym brand and overall excellent training opportunities. Guest fitness trainer Heino also deserves great praise. I found him to be an extremely likable, open, and motivating person. I found it particularly positive how naturally he integrates people with very different backgrounds into his classes and manages to include everyone at their respective level. That is exactly how you want sports facilities to be on vacation. I see room for improvement primarily in the vegan food options. I would like to explicitly highlight that the staff made a great effort and, after I asked, even bought vegan products specifically for me. Nevertheless, it was sometimes difficult, especially to get a plant-based protein source. At the barbecue, for example, there were numerous meat dishes, but no corresponding plant-based alternative, and tofu, legumes, or comparable protein sources were also missing from other meals. Especially for a house with such a strong focus on sports and fitness, a somewhat broader plant-based offering would, in my view, fit perfectly with the overall concept. For that, there is no need for an extensive separate vegan menu: A lentil or bean salad, tofu with the salad, a plant-based alternative at the barbecue, and perhaps even a real vegan dessert instead of just fruit would already make a big difference. However, this point explicitly does not stop me from coming back. On my next stay, I will know what to expect—and perhaps something will have even changed regarding the plant-based offering by then. Overall, I really enjoyed my time off, was able to do a lot of sports, relax, and go home with many beautiful impressions. A house with an extremely pleasant atmosphere and warm hospitality that I am happy to recommend and will visit again myself. One final point, because I had read numerous reviews myself before booking: It is mentioned again and again that, for example, the rooms have not yet been completely modernized. Personally, the mix of modernized and older elements did not bother me at all. I even found the latter to be an advantage in some cases. The minibar was so large that large mineral water bottles or, for example, refrigerated medication brought from home could easily be stored in it. Many modern minibars, on the other hand, are so compactly dimensioned that there is hardly any room for that. So, not every older piece of equipment is automatically worse or more impractical. Above all, in my opinion, one should include the price charged in the evaluation. At a comparable price, I have stayed elsewhere much worse—and conversely, even a significantly higher, sometimes almost double, room rate by no means automatically guarantees a higher standard. Of course, one can place value on everything from the furniture to the last detail corresponding to the very latest hotel design. Such establishments do exist—however, they are also in a completely different price category. For me personally, cleanliness, a good bathroom, spacious rooms, a pleasant atmosphere, and a coherent overall package are more important. And that is exactly what I found at the Ludwig.

Anyone who has ever been to Bad Griesbach knows the issue of the insolvency of the Hartl hotel chain. The current operator of the Ludwig Hotel, Sportresort, has a difficult time due to the insolvency history and the investors involved in the background. Of course, some renovations are necessary. But it is not that simple and quick. Nevertheless, we believe that the Ludwig offers a very good, excellent value for money. The sauna, pool, indoor and outdoor pool area are worth highlighting. No other hotel in Bad Griesbach offers this. The new line as a sports hotel found full enthusiasm with us. Andreas deserves special mention here. I believe the investments in the new fitness tower will pay off in the future. An extensive sports program rounds off the entire week from day to day. Anyone who is not satisfied with the food offerings and still complains is out of place here. Unfortunately, there are always such people. We have been to Maxemilian twelve times and now for the second time at Ludwig. For this reason, we participated in the regular guest week. The weekly program included a pool party, archery, wine and beer, hiking, and a joint farewell dinner, which exceeded our expectations. A heartfelt thank you to Andreas (Andy) and our bike guide Ermanno. We will definitely come back, not just once. This should not be a threat, but a reminder that we all enjoyed it very, very much. However, one should not only praise but also make suggestions for improvement. For today's standards in such a hotel, it is essential to put an end to the carpeting in the rooms.

We have selected DAS LUDWIG Sports Resort via the portal of the multinational company for which we work in Quality Management, as one of four hotels during our business trip to Germany The purpose of our business trips is regular annual visits of sister companies in Germany (Berlin, Nauen, Regensburg, Traunreut, and Dillingen an der Donau), as well as important meetings and discussions with employees from various departments. After these demanding negotiations, we usually choose hotels where we can unwind undisturbed and, if possible, make use of wellness and spa facilities. After reading reviews, we decided this time to also use such hotel and, after four demanding days of meetings, to conclude our business trip in Germany at your hotel. However, our expectations were not met, and already upon arrival at DAS LUDWIG Sports Resort on Thursday, 23 April 2026, in the evening, we experienced great disappointment and disillusionment. At the reception of your hotel, the employee Gábor (name according to his name tag) handled the check-in process in a completely unprofessional manner. From the moment we greeted him, there were no signs of welcome at all. His behavior towards us consisted of curt replies, and after we greeted him, identified ourselves, and informed him of our reservation, he began making mocking remarks directed at my colleague, who clearly emphasized that we were communicating in English. The receptionist, Mr. Gábor, then verbally attacked and ridiculed my colleague in an arrogant manner. His gestures included eyerolling after each question we asked. My colleague did not understand a single word, as Mr. Gábor repeatedly kept saying the word “official” in English. Due to his repeated mocking gestures, I intervened in this extremely unpleasant situation and demanded appropriate behavior from the hotel reception staff towards guests. I’m working as customer claim representative for company for nearly 19 years , so I think my level of English is very high. However, I never use this fact to demonstrate superiority in any way. In this case, I had to intervene immediately and address the arrogant behavior of your employee. I do not understand how such a person can hold a position which, in my view, is one of the most important in a hotel, as reception staff are the first point of contact with guests, and the overall level of service is reflected through their behavior. Furthermore, his unacceptable behavior continued when he showed unwillingness to allow us to park our company vehicle and loudly gestured in front of the hotel entrance, insisting on immediate removal of the vehicle without allowing us to unload our luggage. After this scandalous behavior, I again firmly asked him to show the respect that guests of a 4-star hotel are entitled to. I also pointed out that we had not been provided with any information regarding hotel services (wellness, saunas, sports activities, etc.), nor were we informed about the restaurant, bar, or breakfast – in short, none of the standard information expected from his role. I have been employed by a multinational company for 19 years and have travelled to numerous countries, but I have never encountered such behavior and arrogance as displayed by this receptionist. The entire situation was partly salvaged by a waitress (of Ukrainian nationality), who happened to be near the reception area (and to whom we are very grateful for her willingness to help). She voluntarily showed us the hotel facilities (restaurant, bar, etc.), offered to bring a luggage trolley, and attempted to arrange dinner for us with staff from the adjacent restaurant. Unfortunately, this was also denied to us by the staff of the neighboring restaurant, dressed in typical Bavarian clothing. Our expectation of a pleasant evening with live music also disappeared. In short, our hotel stay turned into a nightmare at a time when we needed to relax after a demanding working week, use the hotel facilities, and enjoy a good dinner and a glass of wine – the very reason we chose your hotel. After this mentally exhausting stay, we left the following morning. During check-out, a different receptionist was on duty, who was very professional. When she asked whether everything was satisfactory, we simply nodded and left disappointed. I can state with certainty that this was our first and last visit at this hotel. We are extremely disappointed and shocked by the behavior of your reception staff. It is incomprehensible how such a person is allowed to interact with guests. Our next business trip planned for October 2026 will definitely not include this hotel. This negative experience will also be communicated to all of our colleagues via our company intranet within the multinational group, which employs approximately 50,000 employees in the EU alone.I found this situation very disappointing, as I had expected a much higher level of service.
