Hotel Haus Hammersbach

We booked a family room, as described on the website 45m2 with 2 full beds, nice pictures of a duplex-like room. In reality we got 1 full bed and a sofa ... absolutely not as described! Passed on and at the reception that in the description clearly 2 full beds. Solution of the hotel but book a room at full pot. Top service? Not so... Food was typically German, not bad, not wow. Ditto with breakfast although this was extensive. Conclusion a hernia richer because of a bad sofa, they will never see us again here!

I have visited this hotel several times and am always thrilled. The location is perfect and in the middle of beautiful nature. The cogwheel train to Garmisch and to Eibsee or the Zugspitze is right outside the door and you can take many great hikes from the hotel, including to the impressive Höllentalklamm. The breakfast was very good and the wellness area a true oasis of relaxation. I traveled with two children, who also found the stay at the hotel and in the surrounding area absolutely fantastic. An absolute recommendation!

The highlight of the hotel is its location. Any hotel that is at the base of a mountain like Alpspitze is blessed with fantastic views from outside the rooms. The rest of the hotel is comfortable, while a bit dated. The beds are quite comfortable, and the rooms are an average size for a hotel—we had no problem having a rollaway in our room for our 15-year old. The rest of the furnishings in the room, though were old and scratched. The carpet is worn as are the bathroom fixtures, but everything seemed clean. We were in the main building on the second floor and had a good size balcony with a fantastic view of the mountain. There is not air conditioning, but we left our balcony door open for a while to cool things down and we were fine. Parking is a pain because there’s not enough of it. Make sure you find out all the places you can park otherwise you’ll have a long hike despite paying for the parking. The free buffet breakfast was good with a large selection of options—eggs prepared different ways, meats (hot and cold), cheese, beans, fruits, yogurts, a huge assortment of bread and jams, and coffee, espresso and tea. Again, the location with convenience to area attractions and views from the rooms are the highlight!
