Occasion and expectations We spent ten days at the Ludwig-Royal to disconnect as a couple. The deciding factors for our choice were the predominantly positive reviews as well as the walking distance to the Steibis golf course, which actually proved to be practical in everyday life. Service and staff Despite being noticeably understaffed, the staff was consistently extremely friendly. When it turned out that our first room was located directly across from a construction site where sawing was going on until 10 p.m., we were assigned a new room within a day – so a problem was solved quickly and easily. Room The room was equipped with what is standard for a 4-star superior hotel: Minibar, coffee machine, safe, television, and so on. We only missed having a notepad and pen, a bottle opener, and a stable Wi-Fi connection. Although we received a guest router at the reception, it only established a connection to our laptop, but not to the internet. Food and drinks The food was varied and pleasantly subtly seasoned. We particularly liked the breakfast buffet, especially the nut cream mill. Regarding drink prices, the hotel is at the upper limit in our opinion: The cappuccino outside of breakfast hours costs extra and is even more expensive than at the neighboring golf club. From other hotels, we are used to having at least a pitcher of tap water on the table in the evening – that was not the case here, and no free drinks were available for the afternoon snack either. In the SPA area, only pre-brewed tea and initially only warm water are offered; other establishments offer a small tea bar with hot water here. Small details that we noticed positively: Unsalted nuts are available in the lobby and the bar – healthy, but rather bland in taste. On the other hand, apples are laid out everywhere in the hotel, which are really tasty. SPA area The SPA area is divided into two zones, with the classic area in the basement being our favorite. There, numerous Buddha figures and heads throughout the basement create a cozy feeling and a real sense of security – for us, an absolute top area, stylishly designed. Only drawback: The water bucket in the Finnish sauna had a crack and served only as decoration. Design and maintenance You can tell that a lot of money was invested in the hotel. For our taste, however, the hotel lacks a clear style – perhaps the lack of a uniform style is the actual style itself. The close connection to the artist Kordes is visible in many places throughout the hotel. As another guest has already described, you can feel a certain backlog of renovations here and there – but that should not dampen the relaxation. Conclusion Ultimately, it is the little things that determine whether a guest feels completely at home or rather like a paying customer. Our tip for the host: Go to the guests every now and then and ask how they are doing, show your presence. Exceed expectations and check on things in the house yourself once a day.

Beautiful hotel in a quiet location. In summer, a beautiful park-like garden with a pool. 2 wellness areas - one of which is adult only. Very friendly staff, excellent food, varied breakfast.. Deluxe rooms are nice and large - comfortable box-spring bed - seating area, balcony with a view of the greenery / the mountains. Hotel is quite labyrinthine - but after a few hours - you find your way around. Very nice spa with competent staff.

Our first stay at Ludwig Royal will certainly not be our last. The reason for this is the consistently friendly, accommodating, and helpful team of the establishment. And the massage team was absolutely top-notch! Here we experienced the best massages we have ever had! The rooms were quiet and well-equipped. However, one could feel the passage of time in our room; a renovation is definitely in order - traces of moisture on the wall behind the bathroom door and chipped floor sections on our balcony will surely be removed then. One frustrating problem was the unstable internet, which broke down at regular intervals, making a pleasant combination of relaxing and some communicative work almost impossible. The catering left nothing to be desired, with a very varied menu and great buffet selection. Those who enjoy sous-vide meat preparation will be fully satisfied here. In between, a crisper meat preparation would certainly be a nice change. The spa and wellness area is very pleasant, with the outdoor park being a highlight for relaxing in nature. The outdoor pool completes the overall very positive impression. We would gladly come back!
