Boutiquehotel Goldene Rose

We rented an apartment located in the annex. In reality, it consists of two different accommodations, one with a kitchen for two people and one with just a bedroom. Outside, there is a bathroom shared by the two apartments. All of this is very inconvenient, for meals and for one's own needs. The location is perfect for visiting the village. Unfortunately, the level of cleanliness of the apartment is not adequate. Also the balcony and the small table/chairs outside, as well as the garden, everything is poorly maintained. The showers are very small. The kitchen has only one small pot, no wooden utensils or anything else for cooking. Not even a colander. We did not receive instructions on where to leave the trash and how to do any recycling. But the saddest thing was the rudeness of the owner, who hung up the phone on me when I called her to explain the problems regarding the apartments. The lady is never present on-site; in fact, we only saw her the morning before leaving. I wanted to have a civil clarification with her, but she kicked me out, telling me she had nothing to say. I limited myself to replying that hers is unprofessional behavior. And I will not add anything else because I am a polite person. For the price paid, 450 euros or perhaps more, I believe the minimum would have been a bit of humanity. But nothing there is human, not even the check-in done with a machine. A very sad experience, humanly speaking. You cannot base an economic activity solely on the location of a place. Much more is needed.

This hotel was delightful. We stayed just before and during the Christmas market, and thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The rooms were very comfortable and the breakfast was delicious. Our hostess was very informative and gave us a quite a few tips on what to see. I would definitely recommend this hotel

We visited Rothenburg for a weekend and booked a stay at the Goldene Rose after finding it on Booking.com. We ended up booking directly on the hotel's website instead, though. We had our dog with us and were enticed by this hotel's fenced in area. Check in was easy with the automated check in machine in the entrance. We were upgraded to a bigger suite which was a fun surprise. The room was spacious and comfortable. The location was perfect, too! Parking was a bit of a mystery. The website mentioned parking available, but we couldn't figure it out so we ended up parking outside the city walls in one of the town's parking areas. No big deal! The hotel had a breakfast option to add on, but we didn't take it. The breakfast area looked nice, though. We enjoyed having the fenced in area to let our dog walk around off leash for a bit. Downstairs of the hotel there is a fridge with a variety of drinks (wine, beer, etc). Our first day we sat outside with our dog and enjoyed a couple of beers and it was so relaxing. The only letdown from the hotel was a lack of soap bar and shampoo stocked in the bathroom. It has been awhile since we have traveled in Europe so I can't remember if that is standard in European hotels or maybe just has to do with COVID. But this was a minor issue for us. Overall, I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone looking to visit Rothenburg!
