Traveling to Berlin with two teenagers for four nights, we found this hotel to be very good and would gladly return if we were to travel to Berlin as a group of four again!
Positive points:
- well located, a stone's throw from the subway
- great bakery a few minutes away on foot (with the option to sit down and have a coffee - Gorilla Bakery: https://gorilla-baeckerei.de)
- many places to eat for not too much money a few minutes away on foot
- nice bar on the ground floor of the hotel to have a drink as adults after a day of sightseeing with the teens
- pleasant rooms and bedding (rooms haven't been renovated in a while but that is not a problem because everything was clean and functional)
- available and pleasant staff
- second room at -50% by booking directly through the Accor hotel website (the price seemed really attractive to us for four)
- parking available and easily accessible
Negative points:
- hotel breakfast very expensive (25 euros / person > really expensive when there are four of us > we did not test it) BUT quality bakery a stone's throw away (cost: about 25 / 30 euros per visit for four eating on site)
- hotel popular with young people and families so sometimes noisy in the evening > take earplugs
- it is said that the street-side rooms are noisier > we had two rooms facing the inner courtyard so impossible to judge
- parking charged at 20 euros / night (it is quite common in the area but I still find it expensive)
In summary, we recommend this hotel!

This hotel was chosen as part of the excursion with Europamundo. The location is a bit distant from the most touristy places in Berlin; however, it has the Boddinstrasse station right next to it, and with the U8 line, you can reach Alexanderplatz in just 6 stops. The hotel is nice, comfortable, has a good breakfast, and a nice bar. The staff was friendly, and the rooms were spacious.

Hello! We were excited to be back here again. Last year the bar area was being renovated and now it’s done and looks great. There were even people sitting there having a drink and making the experience more pleasant. Well done.
As before, we had a corner room which is huge and even has a wardrobe. And the windows open a bit! You might not want to given the main road outside (but we’re from north London, we’re used to noise!). We’d advise opening the window when you go out and rely on the aircon at night. Oh and bring ear plugs.
Now, Mercure, the next task with this hotel is to refurbish the rooms, particularly the bathrooms. They’re ok, nothing much wrong with them ( ours was big), but a more modern shower would be appreciated, one that didn’t require lifting an old leg over the side of a bath!
As I’ve mentioned in my other reviews, the U-Bahn is about five minutes away and Hermanstrasse has.supermarkets, pharmacy , some cafes and restaurants. Our favourite craft beer bar (Muted Horn) is a short walk away. If you turn left outside the hotel and keep walking you get to Karl-Marx Strasse with all the shops. Cross over that road and keep walking and you get to the canal. Left along the canal, you will eventually get to the Spree. It’s a lovely walk and we really recommend it.
Our daughter lives in Berlin so we’re here quite a lot. We’re very likely to come back to this hotel next time. Feels like home.
