Hotel Palace Berlin

The AC is not working in one of the two buildings in the hotel (weekend of 27 June, 2026). the temperature is around 24-25C in the room. The management put up a sign saying that the rooms are hot due to the heat wave, however we spoke to guests staying in the other building, who have the AC working, and the corridors are cooler in the main building. So this cannot be true from basic logic. We saw several guests leaving in the morning for other hotels (some with small children who could not stay given the heat). We (unwisely decided to stay on based on the assurance of the desk staff that they would try to find us an alternative room in the building where the AC works or bring us fans. They did not do either of these things. The front desk person even told us that no hotel in Berlin has working AC due to the heat wave (judge for yourself the truth of this). One of the building staff mentioned to us in conversation earlier that the engineers are away, so they basically know that nothing will be done about the AC. To add insult to injury, the small fridge in the room also stopped working (spoiling the food we kept there for the day). They could not replace the fridge. A kind person brought us some ice but when we asked for a fan mentioned to us that they do not have fans in their space either. So the support staff are likely sweltering in the heat as well (unless they can get to the hotel lobby which is kept cooled). As if on cue, one of the shelfs at the entry way fell down and almost caused an injury. If you have watched the British sitcom Fawlty Towers, you will have a point of reference!

Palace is my favourite Hotel in Berlin, the service is great and the atmosphere is very friendly.

We really liked the hotel and we would be very happy to return. The location is perfect, right in the city center. (Kurfürstendamm & Zoo) Great rooms (newly renovated and very clean), good breakfast, and the House of Gin bar is also highly recommended. The unobtrusive, personal, and friendly manner of the staff led to, us feeling comfortable from the very first minute. We were very satisfied and will always book this hotel again and definitely recommend it further.
