Berlin Markischer Hof Am Tacheles

Stayed with a couple of friends in late July. Not very comfortable, but centrally placed and close to a lot of attraction. Grabbing a cab take you 10 minutes to anything worthwhile. One morning there was a guy sleeping in the lobby.

--- deutsch unten - german below --- Hotel is run-down. Heating did not work. In december! It was freezing cold during the night. Toilets are outside the rooms and are not cleaned properly. I think I found a pubic hair on the toilet seat when I first entered the bathroom. No reception. And no invoice for the stay, I was there for a job interview and the company would pay the stay, if I could provide them a valid invoice, which I can't, because this hotel is not able or willing to just simply hand out an invoice. Now I paid for the stay, but honestly this hotel is not worth a penny. Hotel ist heruntergekommen. Heizung funktionierte nicht. Im Dezember! Es war eiskalt nachts. Toiletten sind außerhalb der Zimmer und nicht wirklich sauber. Ich denke, ein Schamhaar lag auf dem Toilettensitz als ich das Klo zum ersten Mal betrat. Keine Rezeption. Und keine Rechnung, ich war zu einem Bewerbungsgespräch da und die Firma würde die Kosten übernehmen, wenn ich eine gültige Rechnung einreichen könnte, was ich nicht kann, da das Hotel nicht in der Lage oder nicht gewillst ist, einfach eine Rechnung auszustellen. Nun habe ich selbst für die Unterkunft bezahlt, aber ehrlich gesagt, ist das Hotel keinen Pfennig wert.

I made the dreadful mistake of paying in advance. They sent me a message to say to get my key from a lockbox number 8. My so called room was not marked like the other rooms and there was no light in the corridor. There seems to be a lot of people in and out of the corridors any way I checked my key on unmarked door and went in The room was freezing and radiator was off. I contacted booking.com and told them I was leaving as in my opinion the hotel was nothing like what was described. They told me that I should tell a member of staff. There was no one. No reception no cleaner no bar no nothing I Said I am leaving regardless of whether they agree to refund my money. I booked out and booked in somewhere else Please do not waste your money this place should be condemned. If you are short of cash then I would suggest staying in one of the hostels available I am on an interrail trip and have stayed in some wonderful budget hotels and I will be giving them some praise I have already left favourable reviews on booking.com
