Herrenhaus von Low

Hotel with its own charm. The rooms are kept in the old style, except for necessary modernizations. The equipment is tidy and clean. The staff is very friendly. There is outdoor seating, a kind of beer garden. What that is like and the food unfortunately cannot be evaluated. The breakfast is ok, nothing special and very limited.

Living in a mansion is something special. I also accept small defects such as some worn upholstered furniture or creaking stairs. That's the charm. Friendly welcome from the owner who cared for us touchingly. A real host. Good beds in the room, bathroom not brand new anymore, but everything available. We got two more towels extra (on request). Free parking, hotel is about 10 minutes by car from Bad Nauheim. Breakfast fine.

It already started with the check in negative. Arrival from 3 pm. We were about 3.10pm on site. The presumed cleaner said the boss wasn't there. We asked them to inform him that guests were there. After some back and forth, she said he'd be right there. That's how it was. A gentleman I had never expected behind the reception of a mansion came to meet us with the words he was about to take a shower. The style of clothing was by no means appropriate to a landlord. We received briefly and painlessly our key and a description of where room 18 (supposedly a very popular room) is located. The only positive thing about decor was the bed. Everything else was worn out and not functional. The lamp in the bathroom full of dead flies, the shower totally calcified and the carpet in the living room and the tiles in the bathroom littered with indefinable stains. The sockets and light switches dirty and the equipment colorfully thrown together. Nothing goes together. We were asked on the way to our car by the landlord if everything was fine. On our answer that the room has already disappointed us a bit we were told unequivocally that we should find another accommodation. There was no....but I'm sorry about that now or can I maybe show them another room which maybe suits them more. No, nothing. We took our things out of the room and left this inhospitable house in a curse. We found a nice hotel in the area where we were warmly welcomed. Alternatively, we could have stayed with relatives. A free cancellation has been granted to us. However, we had the impression that the master of the house was glad to be rid of the disturbing factor guest. It's a shame. No recommendation from us, unfortunately. I wish all future guests that they do not have to experience this bitter disappointment.
