Mercure Frankfurt Airport

Stranded by Lufthansa in Frankfurt (another customer disservice horror story of its own), and provided with a room for the night here. Shuttle driver reckless and unfriendly. Reception clearly overwhelmed and under experienced. ONE girl doing all the front desk work, hotel maintenance, mopping, electrical work, etc! No air conditioner. No phone in the room even. No manager on site or available by phone or email. One waiter for entire hotel. I clocked it, and he took 45 minutes to bring me a drink of water. Race definitely played a role! The table of three Arian men got their bottles of water in less than a minute:) “Dinner” was ketchup and frozen cubed carrots over white rice.

We had the winter special with one night and a three course dinner in the evening. The Italian menu consisted of a soup as a starter, pasta with minced meat as a main course and a brownie as a dessert. It was quite okay, but nothing special. The service staff in the restaurant were a bit overwhelmed in places, but that was probably partly because many guests were accommodated here due to the Lufthansa strike. The breakfast buffet was also fine. The rooms were clean, the staff very friendly, although it is advantageous if you can speak English to be able to communicate. The hotel is located directly at the airport and offers a shuttle service there. Parking per night costs 10 €.

Unfortunately, the hotel is completely run down. The building services are broken: The air conditioning cannot be switched on or off according to the reception in the room and the temperature cannot be controlled. So it loudly pumps warm air into the room all night long. And according to the reception, this is the case in all rooms and they are not available in any other room. And instead of a reading light switch by the bed, it has a hole in the wall.
