Villa Oriental

We needed a hotel for the night, because of a missed airline connection. We booked a standard double room through our credit card travel service. The room online is listed at $55 US (taxes not included). We were charged $535 (with taxes). The room decor was exotic in a good way with the feel of Arabian Nights as advertised and the bed and bedding were comfortable. Beyond that, everything was disappointing. The room was not heated and the two plug-in electric space heaters provided in the room didn't work. The tile floor was beautiful, but freezing cold. The curtains were falling off. The tea & coffee caddy was empty and obviously not restocked. The handles of the bathroom faucet had missing pieces. One shower door was missing and the other had broken hardware that made it hard to close. I decided not to take a shower as it would flood the bathroom floor with water. There was a shortage of hotel rooms in Frankfurt because of a fair going on, but that shouldn't be an excuse to charge a dishonest price (like a 5-star hotel) for a normal "economy room". Can you trust the management? There is no restaurant at the hotel. The hotel gives a voucher when you pay an extra 15 Euros per person to have breakfast at another (hotel?) restaurant located nearby. In that sense, the photos on the hotel website are deceptive, indicating the hotel has a restaurant. Having been charged $535 for a standard room, I think that we should have had our breakfast included, not as an extra we needed to pay for. The receptionist couldn't or wouldn't give us the address of the restaurant "around the corner" and couldn't tell us what was included in the breakfast menu for the 15 Euro charge. We opted not to eat breakfast through the Villa Oriental Hotel.

Don't stay here unless you want to share a generally filthy room with bed bugs and cockroaches. It was impossible to sleep in these conditions and we checked out shortly after arrival in the middle of the night. Negligent hotel management who has not responded to the concerns raised.

I don't know why it has 4 *, we stayed 1 night, but it was enough to see the poor maintenance, bad toilet, bad lighting, safe doesn't work. There was 1 pair of used slippers from a previous passenger Its facilities are those of a 2-star hotel, hopefully.
