We spent one night in Hattersheim and could not switch to any other hotel, as everything in all of Hattersheim was booked out. Due to other reviews, we checked in with mixed feelings and were already prepared for the room's need for renovation. The fabric bed frame had obvious stains, the furnishings were partly visibly aged, and the decor was from another, taste-wise unsettling decade.
Nevertheless, the relevant areas like the bed and bathroom appeared clean. Acceptable for one night, if you don't have a crisis besides the above-mentioned stains when you find small bloodstains on the bed linen that obviously withstood multiple wash cycles (as is usual with hotel laundry) and offered no reason not to put the bed linen on. Then you just turn the pillow over.
The room was spacious and bright and, unexpectedly and to our delight, had a small balcony with a view of the park and the terrace.
We slept very well and quietly, even though the mattress was very saggy on one side. An air conditioner and a somewhat old-looking fan were available for any need.
The location is quiet, central, and beautifully situated by the park. The breakfast restaurant has a great outdoor terrace right by the picturesque park.
The staff, especially at the front desk and the room cleaning staff, were very attentive and friendly. Only the tone in the breakfast room (cozy, if you don't let yourself be irritated by the wildly mismatched decor but perhaps even find cause for amusement in it) was a bit stern as breakfast time came to an end. Because, according to the announcement, dishes should also be collected quickly.
The breakfast was filling and solid. No nasty surprises. Only the cooked vegetables were overcooked and unappetizing, quite regardless of the fact that they were frozen food. Otherwise, there was muesli, milk, packaged yogurt (also lactose-free), a coffee machine, various types of tea, fruit juice, water, boiled egg, scrambled eggs, bacon, one type of wheat roll, slices of bread and toast with a toaster, packaged Nutella, jam, butter, cream cheese, etc. Cheese and cold cuts and so on.
Luggage could be stored pragmatically at the hotel reception (not in a separate room) after check-out. However, unfortunately without being given a receipt that you had dropped it off. Trust is good, control would feel better.
With breakfast for two people for one night on the weekend, about €100 was okay. Because it was basically clean and is nicely located. However, the obvious judgment remains that they missed a renovation here and probably intend to leave it at that.
