Hotel Schmidt Monnikes

I have been using this hotel for business trips since 2015. It is located conveniently close to our office and that alone provides good value already. The place has been kept well in terms of cleanliness and fixtures. Check-in/out was efficient. While I was told that it was fully booked during my stay, the hotel was generally quiet which was good. My only concern was that the breakfast option has been taken out and I was looking forward to that. Overall, a rather good place to stay in Bochum. Tip: Their restaurant is a great place to have dinner!

All staff were very friendly and helpful, especially Mrs. Thoma who also exuded happiness. The restaurant had a nice choice of meals at very acceptable prices and quality. The room was small but adequate if somewhat noisy from traffic outside. The hotel is located at the junction of two roads, one being quite busy. The nearness of several motorways makes it easy to access the rest of the Ruhr area. There was a very pleasant buffet breakfast. My main problem was the internet speed, which was sometimes very satisfactory but often enough frustratingly slow. In our modern days, there is really no excuse for this.

Had a great dinner with family. The staff was very friendly and accommodating. We became so wrapped up in our conversations, we didn't realize that the restaurant had closed and we were the only ones left. The staff never said a word to us regarding the time. Definitely recommend.
