Like most others, we were in Gelsenkirchen for the soccer. What we experienced afterward at the hotel left us in disbelief. It is understandable that drinks are served in plastic cups in the outdoor area. However, the fact that hundreds of plastic cups are also handed out at the hotel bar raises serious concerns regarding sustainability. But this is probably legal and thus acceptable. Sheer horror was triggered in me and my friends, as well as many others, by the following situation. Around 10:45 PM, all non-hotel guests were suddenly asked to leave the hotel immediately. Security personnel accompanied, or rather, escorted the guests directly outside. When we politely inquired whether we could finish our recently ordered drink, we received the response, "Yes, outside." I do not wish to further comment on additional exchanges between security and guests; it was simply unbelievable. Not that there was no understanding for a closure, but the manner in which it was done is shocking. Ultimately, many soccer fans rely on the hotel, and this approach will not endear the current management to anyone. If the opportunity exists, one should take alternatives and trust that soon the next hotel company will take over. It can only get better.

We stayed at the November 2025 in four at the hotel. We watched a Schalke game and wanted a hotel near the arena. Well nearby is an understatement!!! You have the arena right outside the door! So the way to the stadium is very short. The atmosphere in the hotel, in front of the hotel and around the hotel is incredible! It's all packed with fans and yet the place is super clean and really nice. We had a “suite” this was really perfect for us 4. I haven't found anything I could have to complain about!!

Their professionalism, warmth and a fine sense of people and quality can be felt in every area. You can tell immediately: This is where we lead with appreciation, clarity and genuine passion – an attitude that has a positive impact on the entire team and the experience of guests. Mr. Tücker, the Food & Beverage Manager, deserves equally high and warm praise. With remarkable calmness, clarity and expertise, he and his team ensure a service that is not only professional but also personal. Whether in the restaurant, at the counter or in the background – work is done with commitment, friendliness and genuine joy. The culinary quality convinces us every time: high-quality products, excellent taste and a presentation with attention to detail. We particularly appreciate the self-evident, attentive handling of individual wishes – binding, warm and always with an honest smile. What really makes this house special, however, are the people. The entire team creates an atmosphere where you feel welcome, enjoy spending time and have conversations on an equal footing – whether it’s private or business. A sincere thank you to Mrs Hartenstern, Mr Tücker and the entire team of Welcome Hotel Gelsenkirchen. For us, this place is a permanent address – today and in the future.
