Very cute hotel, a bit far from the center. Courteous, kind, and helpful staff. Very comfortable and clean room.

Why was I at a hotel in my own city? Because my apartment is very hot in the summer and I then move to the air-conditioned hotel for a few days at a time.
Since I am also working then, my requirements are just: Air conditioning, Wi-Fi, and blackout curtains. That is all standard at Motel One.
Since this was hopefully the last heat-related "workation" for this summer, I wanted to treat myself to something, especially room service.
Now let's get to the details:
Staff very friendly, personable, and relaxed. I always prefer that over it being very formal. Rooms are large, Wi-Fi is fast, and the air conditioning can be operated manually and the room can be cooled down a lot, which is perfect for me because "the cooler the better". The hotel itself is a bit dated, but everything is well-maintained and in good shape. I read that it is being renovated, which is a good step. For me, the TV (not that important) and the safe are no longer up to date. Especially because you need a credit card to lock it, which I would of course like to lock inside.
However, it is good that there is a modern tablet for information, food orders, etc.
The large desk is perfect for working.
The food from room service was very delicious, and the drinks were too.
At breakfast (in the room) everything was good, except for the cheese, which unfortunately was not of good quality.
Those are minor points of criticism, but what unfortunately did bother me was the housekeeping.
At check-in, I was given a room that was listed in the system as cleaned, but when I entered the room, it wasn't ready. I then went back to the front desk and immediately got another room. All good, it can happen. But what happened on the day of departure is unacceptable, though unfortunately this hotel is not alone in that.
Check-out is by 12:00 PM; at around 11:20 AM I was in the bathroom getting ready so that I could leave the room by 11:45 AM at the latest. There was a knock at the door, it knocked a second time; I couldn't react that quickly and was standing in the bathroom in my underwear. I then shouted "Excuse me" loudly, but the door was opened anyway. Honestly, that is not okay. I can really overlook mistakes and misunderstandings, but this is the point that really makes me angry in hotels. I do not know what the reason is—time pressure? Lack of communication? Both? It should not happen. If you are still in the room after check-out time, I can fully understand something like that, but not when you are still well within the time.
It is also a shame that you have to pay extra for the gym.

Very clean comfortable room. Very nice staff. The hotel is nicely decorated and the amenities are perfectly acceptable. The overall impression is very pleasant because there is sufficient space everywhere not to feel cooped up.
The location is ideal for people attending a concert at the Lanxess arena.
On the minus side, it is impossible to open the bedroom window. Although the temperature in the room was quite comfortable, we regretted that we had no fresh air.
