Best Western Parkhotel Wittekindshof

Parkhotel Wittekindshof was a fantastic choice for a friend’s 50th birthday celebration in Dortmund. The room was excellent: comfortable, clean, spacious and really well presented. The location was great too, especially with a 24-hour petrol station next door that even does burgers — very useful after a late night! The staff were genuinely friendly, welcoming and helpful throughout, which made the stay even better. The hot water was brilliant, and the hairdryer deserves its own five-star review — powerful enough to make you feel red-carpet ready. Only tiny suggestion: a microwave or way to heat food in the room would be handy.

Booked months in advance on a family recommendation. We had long journeys both on arrival and departure so I emailed the Hotel to explain and request a quiet room location. Got a quick and encouraging reply. However, on arrival we discovered there was a wedding reception in the garden and our ‘quiet’ room was directly above the party. I went to reception to ask when the event was expected to end. The churlish receptionist just said ‘in the night’. I mentioned our need for a good night’s rest and would have been happy to switch rooms to the front of the hotel but Germany’s worst receptionist just shrugged and said ‘we are full’. Fortunately I always book flexible…so we were out of there. Spoiled a nice evening in Dortmund. Can recommend the Gruner Baum restaurant if you do stay in the area though.

We stayed in the apartment of the hotel for an unbeatable price. The bedrooms face the garden and the very large living room faces the main street. The large sliding doors to the balcony swallow any sounds from outside. The park hotel is very well maintained, and the staff always friendly. Room and bathroom were clean and very spacious. At breakfast there was also something for everyone and enough of everything. We definitely recommend it.
