Musty rooms, nothing done since the '70s. Perlators on the taps broken, it splashes in all directions. And the water smells too. Must have had charm in the '70s, now it needs a rework. Breakfast on the second day with only half provided and the bread rolls from the previous day.

Made a booking via a reservation site and had some contact via the app, which was extremely fast and friendly. They charge 15 euros per night for a dog. There is limited parking outside the hotel and otherwise in the parking garage. The reception is open 24/7 and there is also a bar with normal prices. The room is good for a few days. The downside was that there is carpet and with a dog we prefer parquet or something else. Otherwise just fine, because there are several supermarkets and restaurants/snack bars nearby. There is bus transport and the roads are also good.

How the positive reviews come about here is a complete mystery to me. The classics: Mold on the shower tray, broken toilet flush, aerator on the sink faucet probably stolen by the lower class. A hair in the bread roll at the (mediocre) breakfast The hotel has definitely seen better days. To match this, staff with abysmal customer orientation: Guest wants to extend the room after the first night. Since he can only pay with PayPal, he tries to book via novum-hotels.de while on the move. Unlike the night before, the software no longer allows bookings for just one night (nightly, faulty upgrade?), so the reservation/booking fails. Guest borrows cash from a friend and calls the hotel to ask whether he can pay for the next night's room in cash after the checkout time has passed when he returns to the hotel. Guest returns and decides to request a new room because of the defects. The guest is granted this, but only at this point is it announced that the room is now significantly more expensive (not because it is a different room category, but because it is the weekend). Guest complains that this could have been communicated on the phone (because the guest would then have looked for an alternative). Answer: "The guest could have seen this when they tried to book online." No, honey, he couldn't, because the process had to be canceled BEFORE any price information was visible. They then try to persuade the guest to stay overnight more expensively by babbling about a 10% discount (which still makes the room significantly more expensive than the night before). No, madam, that is not a discount, that is a disgrace. I recently got 25% off at the Mercure-Süd for minor defects (which were also compensated for without further ado by a different room and the provision of a fan heater!!!). And then the blame goes on: he could have asked about the price. Sure, honey, a guest who stays in a hotel several times a month MUST ABSOLUTELY remember during a stressful shopping trip on a Saturday morning in the run-up to Christmas that the price he knew from the day before could have changed. So he should do the hotel staff's job. Yeah, right. The guest doesn't have anything better to do anyway, he likes doing it. When the guest then wants to forgo another night's stay, another attempt is made to get extra money out of him for a bad service: he should please pay a €15 late checkout surcharge. In my opinion, the lady behind the counter wasn't the brightest candle on the cake (that's why I got into this "don't argue with a stupid person, he'll drag you down to his level and beat you with experience" situation), but she was really good at the money thing. Long story short: after protesting, the guest was exempted from the surcharge. The guest was then allowed to look for a new hotel and pay for an expensive taxi ride. @novum-hotels.de: The above story should give you something to think about regarding the suitability of your staff, in addition to the fact that the other lady on the phone the evening before also shone through complete ignorance: she could not give the guest the above web address (i.e., the address of her own employer!!!). The whole thing ended up seeming to me like a chapter from the hoteliers' handbook entitled "How do I effectively deter guests from returning?"
