Lindner Rhein Residence

This was the worst stay at a hotel I have had in a very long time. First, at check in they didn’t have record of me pre paying for breakfast, so that took a long time to sort out when they tried to re-charge us. Then the room itself, while spacious, had multiple issues. Apparently the non-working fridge is common because ours like many other reviews did not work at all. Then the bathroom clearly hadn’t been cleaned well, there was no soap in the permanent fixtures and the shower floor was covered in white buildup. There were controls for a heated floor that did not work. Then the shower itself is one of the worst I have ever experienced. It only has half a door and some sort of leak or just horrible design because water GUSHES onto the bathroom floor no matter where the shower head is pointed. They give you two bath towels and two hand towels so our hand towels were just soaked trying to avoid slipping in the river created in our bathroom that spills into the hallway. Worst of all, we had no hot water for the last 16 hours of our stay and the person on duty, Pawel, was not only completely unapologetic but actively rude at checkout. When I called to inform about the hot water they just said “they’d look into it” and when I asked again at checkout he didn’t even acknowledge it but asked where the hair straightener I had requested was and MADE ME GO BACK UP TO THE ROOM TO GET IT. Zero apologies for NO hot water, for being unable to take a shower on the last day of our vacation. Just completely unacceptable. The breakfast was TERRIBLE as well, literally just cold cuts and bread and they charge 22 euro per person? A complete joke. We didn’t even eat on checkout day because they have no hot water- how are they washing dishes??? Would NOT EVER recommend this hotel, unfriendly employees, broken everything (which seems to be the case across all of these reviews), and poor cleaning. Stay elsewhere for sure.

Unfortunately, cold shower. The room phone did not work to report this to the front desk. Had to call from my cell phone instead. The lady said she would take care of it. After an hour, I still had no feedback and asked at the front desk: No technician could be reached today. A room change was possible. At 10 p.m., I decided against it. Unfortunately, also no Wi-Fi reception in the room. Reported again to the front desk: That is unfortunately the case, and nothing can be done about it.

Hotel is located about a 6 stop bus ride from central Dusseldorf. You can walk to Aldstadt (old town) in about 20 minutes along the riverbank. There are plenty of bus stops near the hotel, and the Nordstrasse underground line is 5 mins walk. The hotel has very comfortable rooms, a really good breakfast, vending machines for beer and minerals, even an ice cream fridge. There is a gym, and a small bar, but no food is served apart from breakfast. It is very clean, well maintained, and the staff are all very friendly and helpful. There is a nice Greek Taverna and a good Italian restaurant just outside the door, so dining options are good. Highly recommended.
